i live in michigan and its going to be hot & humid this summer. I am working outside and when its hummid, it feels like i can't breath. My doctor said i probably feel like someone with asthma, but he said i don't have asthma. He gave me a inhalor, told me to drink lots of water, stay in shade as much as possible. I did this last summer, i wore light colored shorts and a shirt. It helped some, but i still couldn't breath that good. Sometimes i feel like i am going to pass out from not breathing good. My job is to work outside, and i like my job(delivery of newspapers to residental homes as a second job) and i dont want to give it up this summer. I will if i can't breath good again. Any suggestions on how to stay cooler or to control this breathing problem?

I can't guarantee this will help, but if you don't have asthma, then you may have allergies that are clogging your nose and sinuses. You can relieve these symptoms on your own by taking an antihistamine such as Claritin-D, or the generic version of Claritin and generic sudafed sold at Walmart. Another thing that helps is to get in good physical shape before summer - maybe by riding a bike, running, or walking. If these things don't help, then a visit to an allergist might be needed so they can find out exactly what is causing the problem.

Some Sudafed may help,or allergy meds.Vick Vapor rub,
just a dab under your nose and maybe a small amount on
your upper chest. There are inhalers too to open the nostrils
with Mentholatum.
