I have been having strong palpitations for weeks now everyday. I had a ekg done at the emrengcy room it was normal. I had a monitor on for 30 days in 2005 and a echo cardiogram also. Came back fine also. I went to my dcotors office last week and he said it was from stress and anxiety. I do have panic attacks and anxiety and being treated for them with medicine. Even when I am not having a panic attack I am still having these palpitations everyday on and off all day long. I do not have them when I am asleep or laying down to relax. I am scared and don't know if it is my nerves or what. What should I do ? Should I call the doctor and make him give me a stress test even though he said I was fine. My mind will not feel at ease until I know for sure it is just anxiety and not heart related.

The fact that you are not being woken up with palpitations and that they are not bothering you at rest are a good indicator that it is not cardiac. I recently was having very strong palpitations just like you described and even at rest that had me nervous. It lasted for several weeks straight and I debated on going to the er. I work in a very stress full job and I am planning on starting school full time in the fall. So with 24 on 72 hour off schedule with school and a hectic job, YEAH!!!!. They did a work up on you and it sounds like you are under a lot of stress. If there are no other signs along with it I wouldn't worry. I looked up the palpitations on the net and it stated it was basically harmless. Many times also caused by too much caffeine for which I am a junkie. Gotta have my tea and soda. Keep busy with enjoyment on your days off to get your mind off of this situation and see if it works, if not call your Dr and see about getting something for anxiety like xanax or cymbalta. The more you worry the more palpitations you will get. Mine have finally stopped. :)

You probably need a relaxer, sounds like stress. I was having the same thing - was even hospitalized in December for it. It was my nerves, now when that happen I take 1/2 of a pill to relax and it is slowly going away. I can now go days without medication or palpitations.

You sound just like me. I also get them and I have had a lot of cardio test and everything is fine. I suffer from panic attacks terrible, my doc has assured me that its just my stress worrying about my panic attacks.

TRY to relax and keep your mind busy and they will go away

good luck

Make sure you are not dehydrated drink enough water. Also do not drink many teas and coffee or coke.
If its not going away then may need o go on some kind of beta blocker. seek medical advise. spartan
