Asthma can develop at any age, especially in a house with a smoker... but so can allergies (especially in a house with a smoker), which would also cause your symptoms... Might have been something in the air during that one run (was anyone fertilizing or spraying their yard?). IF IT KEEPS UP, then see a doc... you would need to have an expert listen to your lungs and do a chest x-ray to diagnose asthma.
Best wishes,

That tickling feeling, yea I had it too. I was diagnosed with asthma around that age. I think you should go to the doctor as soon as possible to start some treatment. And be sure to explain what happened as thouroughly as you did here, I know it is difficult to explain in person. The coughing, I assume from my experience, is continuous and on and off? Thats something that should be take care of. I hope you get better and find the cause, whether it is asthma, or some other lung infection, or just a cold.

There are two strong probabel diagnosis. One is asthma and the other is exercise induced anaphilatic reaction. The one thing that caught my attention was the fact that your were running when this occured and the tingling in your throat. We have recently became aware that many people are experiencing exercise induced allergic reactions. This is very dangerous and normally has to be treated with anti allergic medications rapidly. You should definently see your physician and if this ever happens again, you should call 911 and have ems come out and give you an epinephirine injection and oxygen until the reaction stops. Good luck.

My roomate has it. He was like 17 when he was diagnosed.. BUT.. he was at football practice one day, and started feeling dizzy, tight chest, etc. Went to the doctor, and they found out he had pnumonia, and also asthma. I don't know if the pnumonia contributed to him having asthma.. but his dad also had asthma, but grew out of it.
