As a physician I have ordered the test that you are talking about many times. We call it a CCK/HIDA scan. It is a test that helps a doctor determine how well your gallbladder works. A very minute amount of radiation is given in a form that collects in your gallbladder ,and then the hormone that is made in your pancreas that sends a signal to your gallbladder to empty its contents is injected into your body by IV . this hormone is called cholecystokinin (CCK) The scan then records what percentage of the nuclear material in your gallbladder is expelled. This percentage is called the ejection fraction. A normal ejection fraction is considered to be greater than 35%. We always do an ultrasound of the gallbladder first to make sure there are no stones in it or the ducts leading to or from the gallbladder. We wouldn't want to send a stone downstream. If your doc is waiting 2 weeks it is likely a normal test result.

The test you are referring to is called a HIDA scan. Almost all patients who are having gall bladder symptoms get this test. It is a special type of X ray which determines how fast your gall bladder dumps. If your gall bladder does not show stones on an ultrasound, or shows sludge, they do the HIDA scan to see if your gall bladder is being lax in its ability to dump bile to help you digest. Its nothing spectacular, just new and more modern medicine. Cost a lot of money too.
Hope your gallbladder is dumping ok. Seems to me if it isnt, the MD would have already called you with a surgery consult to have a cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal).

Usually, to see if there are gallstones in the gallbladder, and if gallstones are blocking the bile duct. These conditions can be painful, can require surgery, but are almost never fatal. If you're in pain, call and ask for an appointment as soon as possible.

I dont attempt everyone babes.. a number of my pals are so distinctive and from distinctive walks of existence, that finding out could be pointless by using fact their personalities and what they must grant in a friendship fluctuate so very much. i like to take human beings for who they're, relatively than having them meet a "particular set of standards"....
