does it bother anyone else that some "vegetarians" eat chicken or fish? i can MAYBE (but not really) understand why people can say that fish is not a meat, but seriously, what is the reasoning that someone who eats chicken can still call themselves a vegetarian? doesnt this bug anyone else!?

Yes.
:)
Vegetarians do not eat animals.

"People who don’t eat red meat but do eat chicken or fish are making a very important first step, but they aren’t vegetarians. We usually call such people meat-reducers."
~The Vegetarian Society

Sometimes they just don't know any better and it is not their fault. Hopefully when they realize the truth, they stop eating fish (or chicken) or stop calling themselves vegetarian.

If they do know better and still insist on using the word because it's *easier* or because they think vegetarianism is something they should *belong to* and eat dead animals at the same time, then I get upset.

It is because of people like them that others may put a dead carcass on my plate... and then look at me like I'm crazy for not eating it.

Yes they drive me up the wall. It is people like them that make other people ask stupid questions or make incorrect statements. I have asked so many waiters at restaurants to tell me what vegetarian meals they have available, and then they point to the chicken or fish meal on the menu and say that their vegetarian friend likes that meal! I just look at them and then have to explain like they are 2 years old that a vegetarian is someone who doesn't eat meat.

A vegetarian, by the very definition of the word itself, refrains from eating ANY animals, not just "meat".
And yes, it bugs me that people are idiots. It always has.

There's no such thing as a vegetarian who eats fish and chicken. They're figments of their own imaginations. Best to ignore the poor deluded souls.

I have been lacto-ovo vegetarian before, and when I went back to eating chicken and fish I just said that I didn't eat red meat.

This bothers me also. My former supervisor did this. She claimed she was a vegetarian, but she ate chicken. It drove me nuts!
