No, Byetta will work with insulin or before you have to take insulin, but unfortunately once you start with insulin, you never stop.

Byetta causes your body to produce insulin in response to an oral glucose load, so it's great in that it's physiological (acts like your body would normally) and it can actually cause weight loss, which is rare (and helpful) in diabetic drugs. However, you must be able to produce insulin in order for it to work, so if your pancreas is unable to produce enough insulin, it will not help. It cannot substitute for injected insulin once you reach that point.

Well, in some cases but sometimes you have to take it together with insulins. I read up on it when I read that Byetta would help with weight loss in a diabetic. They big problem is that Byetta has to be injected and it is horribly expensive. There are also lots of side effects with Byetta and I have read it is hard to get the right dosage determined.

No.

Byetta has not been approved to be used with insulin and is not a substitute for insulin required patients.

I recommend you visit their website for more information. You will receive a lot of incorrect information if you do not do your own research.
