Air does not "kill" HIV, but exposure to air dries the fluid that contains the virus, and that will destroy or break up much of the virus very quickly. The CDC reports that drying HIV reduces viral amount by 90-99% within several hours.

However to ensure safe sex and prevention of HIV, use protection at all times durex any form of intercourse.

No, HIV does not die after contact with the air. The HIV virus lives inside your cells (RNA) and has actually never been isolated.

HIV can be trasmitted through syringes (heroin addicts) and the only know way to remove HIV from a syringe before saftley using it again is to rinse it with boiling hot bleach three times. The HIV virus does not die from the air, water or anything else.

Also, the 4 body fluids that transmit the virus are semen, breast milk, vaginal fluid and blood. These fluids will still contain the virus even when exposed to air.
