You do have some of the symptoms of diabetes but you really should check with your doctor to be sure. If it is diabetes, it is not curable or reversible but it is treatable and can be managed and controlled. You need to make drastic changes in your diet and begin to exercise more. Based on your weight, I really think you should see a diabetes specialist and a dietitian. They can know better than anyone what course of action to take with you, what changes to make, what exercises you can do and what medications you may need. Please take care of yourself. Best wishes.

There is no cure for type 2 diabetes, however many can "reverse" it so that they're body is able to function again as it should, having normal glucose levels without medications. Not everyone can achieve this, but many can. If you lose the weight, make lifestyle changes that include a healthy diet and exercise, the chances of "reversing" diabetes if you have it already, or preventing it if you haven't reached it, are very good. However, if after making those changes you go back to bad habits diabetes will return. If a fasting glucose test comes back normal I would ask to have a glucose tolerance test. Don't try using a home glucose meter to diagnose yourself. It is not meant to diagnose, it's a tool to help those with diabetes manage their disease. They're not completely accurate and can either cause alarm that it isn't needed or bring relief to someone who actually needs to be concerned. A1C's are also not good for diagnosis. They're an average of 3 months...in early diabetes this test may come back normal and is not recommended as a test to diagnose. A fasting test may return normal in early stages of diabetes. Most people would not have this test done again for a year or more. During that time overlooked diabetes could progress and/or cause damage. a glucose tolerance test will catch prediabetes and early diabetes that might be missed by fasting tests. good luck!

First thing...
Please go to your general practitioner and get some blood work done. Unfortunately, it's a good chance that you DO have type 2 diabetes since you're overweight.
Second thing...
Please tell your general practitioner and/or nutritionist about your trouble losing weight (if you have been seriously trying to lose it- taking in less calories than you burn off consistently)
Third thing...
YES, TYPE 2 diabetes can be "reversed". After losing a significant amount of weight the cells that release insulin are free to release the insulin that your body normally produces. Then you won't have to take insulin injections or pills. However if you are diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic you at some point will no longer, if you can't already, be able to even produce the hormone on your own. At this point this type 1 diabetes is "irreversible" and there is no cure, only exorbitantly pricey medications and home glucose testing.
Best of luck to you.
But if you do have type 2 diabetes, it's not the end of the world, you'll be forced to learn how to eat and live a healthy life style. And please find out the bottom line to your weight loss problem because this disease is too pricey and painful to have it. So if it is type 2 lose the weight and lose it FAST.

You really should see a doctor about this. Diabetes has no cure and must be controlled in order not to cause other health problems. Some people who are not diabetic are considered to be insulin resistant, which is one step below diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes can be almost eliminated if you could lose weight. Obesity is a huge contributor to type 2 diabetes.
I was overweight, was told I had type 2 diabetes, lost the weight and no longer have any diabetic symptoms.
Good luck!!

You have described the symptoms of diabetes, but there are other conditions that can cause some of the same symptoms you are experiencing. Please call your doctor and get a blood test. Your doctor recommend a glucose tolerance test that will determine your body's ability to metabolize sugar. A simple finger stick will tell your doctor your immediate blood sugar.
Type two diabetes can be controlled by a proper diet and exercise many times. In more difficult to control individuals medication or insulin may be required.
Foods you should be eating will be low on the glycemic index. Foods that are white (bread, milk, rice, potatoes) are high on the glycemic index. Anything that is packaged such as crackers, cookies, cereal and chips are very high on the glycemic index and should also be avoided. Eat whole foods. Salads, berries, whole wheat products and vegetables will be lower on the glycemic index. http://www.carbs-information.com/glycemic-index.htm#gi This is a basic guide that will help you figure out what foods you should eat.
Exercise is imperative!
Bottom line, you should see your doctor. Diabetes can damage your body and you need to be under the care of a specialist and nutritionist.

This is a question that only a medical professional can answer for you. Some of the symptoms that you stated in the question, does mimic diabetes, and most definitely by being 80 lbs overweight, you have the possibility of having this.
You should schedule an appointment with your doctor and let him do some test on you so that he can determine if you are a diabetic or not. You also may have high cholesterol and triglycerides.
You definitely need some medical attention from your physician. If you have a family, do it 4 them, so that they can have you around for a while/

It sounds like you have diabetes but you will need to go to the doctor to find out. Those are the same symptoms I had. It is possible to control it through diet and exercise but you will need to lose a lot of weight. The most important thing I can tell you is to see a doctor immediately. I had a heart attack at age 43 two months after finding out I was diabetic. This is not something to put off.
