I think that GM is still an unknown quantity. Why change the way things taste just to maximise profits? It is a relatively new branch of science and any bad long term effects are not known. The vegetarian and Vegan societies do not approve of GMO, neither do I.

Actually you can tell if your produce is GM by looking at the product code on it. Conventional produce starts with a 4, Organic, if I remember right is supposed to be a 7, and GM I think is an 8 or a 9. I heard this almost a year ago, so my memory isnt completely clear on which number(s) for GM, but I do know that conventional starts with a 4.

I dont think anything has been proven about all the ill effects. There IS proof that MANY people, like myself, developed chronic food allergies from consuming gm products. I was using a product that contained unlabeled gm soy, and I developed severe allergies to wheat, soy, and many other foods. The increase in adult onset allergies is up 70% since the gm stuff started being used in the USA, then the same thing happened in the UK. Its scary business, and we dont know what "fresh" produce is actually gmo. Cabbage, for example, has been spliced with scorpion venom (to make it resistant to pest)and that just can't be a good idea, no matter how you look at it. Unfortunately, the cabbages sitting in the produce stand could be GMO, and we don't even get a choice-because we simply do not know

GM products are too new for their long term effects on human health to be fully understood so there is no conclusive proof yet.
Personally I think eating anything that has had it's genetic code altered is risky so I try and stick to organic foods whenever possible.

I don't know if there is any "proof" moreso than long term observation. The US is one of the only advanced countries to not label GM products. The only way you can basically get non-GM products is by buying organic produce, and these are clearly labelled.

No there is not & no proof the other way either. Ask the supermarkets the second part of your question. You won't get a sensible answer though.

Do you need proof. Its called Genetically Modified. Why are we eating something that has been enhanced with anything!
Go to a local greengrocher, they will tell you, plus youre not giving your money to the big fat cats and keeping a local man and farmer in a job
