Arteriosclerosis usually develops over time. There aren't any symptoms until the artery (or arteries) affected are so clogged that they can't supply enough blood to an organ. The symptoms will vary depending on which arteries are affected, but all the symptoms are based on the affected area not receiving an adequate blood supply.

If they are coronary arteries, the symptoms may be chest pain and heart attack. Obstruction of arteries supplying blood to the legs may cause leg pain when walking, or gangrene. Obstruction of arteries in the head and neck may cause sudden weakness, dizziness, or numbness. Arteriosclerosis can even cause erectile dysfunction.
