This is my source of information: WIKIPEDIA: "Islamic law prohibits a Muslim from consuming alcohol, eating or drinking blood and its by-products, and eating the meat of a carnivore or omnivore, such as pork, monkey, dog, or cat"

I'd say you were reading some misinformation.
Muslims do not eat CARNIVORES, as in animals who eat other animal meat and who are considered hunters. And chickens are not omnivores, they do not eat meat.
The answerer who said you could eat a monkey is wrong, they are considered predators.
The answerer who thinks it's a cruel way to kill animals has apparently never been to a meat packing plant. They slit their throats, too.

Muslims have a diet which is very much controlled by religious belief and is in may ways similar to the Jewish diet. Muslims eat Halal and the Jews Kosher [cosha]. The pig is considered an unclean animal by both Muslims and Jews. In both Islam and Judaism, animals with a cloven hoof are avoided so too are shellfish.

Chickens are normally fed corn, but the below link doesn't say being omnivorous is a problem. It sounds like they avoid carnivorous animals.

Check this out, it might have more answers.

And for the kind of diet I think you are asking about is referred to as "halal."

They don't eat pigs, which are dirty, thhey don't eat birds of prey, and they don't eat anything which can't be "halaled" ( They slit the throat and let the dirty blood drain from the half dead body) .

That excludes seafood like oysters, crabs etc.

EDIT: My word of mouth comes from the horses mouth itself. In this case, a MUSLIM BUTCHER WHO RUNS A HALAL SHOP . I had to go to a halal shop recently, the nearest one was closed. It was the butcher who told me how they do it, They say something like bis mila, and slit the throat and let the chicken bleed to death.

MODIFY AGAIN:I am not saying anything about cruelty to animals. If I were that concerned, I wouldn't eat meat at all. But all larger animals eat smaller animals. And plants can feel pain as well, only they are mute, so you treat them as you feel like. Hell! There are plants like nepenthes( Pitcher plant) and venus fly trap That kill animals ( Insects) . If plants are not vegetarian, I don't need to be either.

BUT I would prefer the death to be quick andas painless as possible.

We are not allowed to eat carnivores and monkeys r included in this category. Pigs are filthy by nature thats why we cant eat that. Chickens are not omnivores...where did you hear that from???

Christians, Muslims and Jews dont eat blood. that's likewise incorrect to eat the beef of an animal that has no longer been good bled. Muslims and Jews dont eat beef. Christians can eat beef; the aren't any extra lower than the Mosaic regulation.

Ok, I will. I'm a muslim and you've got it all wrong.
We are allowed to eat chicken, meat, fish, or even camals. But we are forbidden to eat pigs, since pigs(when alive) are extremely filthy and they eat about EVERYTHING. So, God fobidded us to eat for a scientific reason actually; we might catch a disease.
Some might say that pigs are raised in best of farms, but they are still filthy and disgusting in nature. Listen to this real story. There was a Muslim who disagreed with some American people who think that pigs shouldn't be forbidded and they insisted to take him to the barns at which they are raised. So, he went there with them and the barns were extremely clean, but as they were taking him in a tour, some mice eneterd the barn, so the pigs immediatly squashed them and had them for lunch!

Animals die slowley, their hearts must beat to flush out all the blood to make it hallal meat so it can be eaten, they die of blood loss.how any civilised society or religion puts up with this is beyond my understanding of descency, I would go vegan if I had to eat this meat.
