What do you do with your children in the school holidays. I don't want to put upon my mum or any other family members xx

I don't work, as i believe that you have your children to look after them not palm them off for others to look after. I've seen a job that asks for 10 hours a week and just wondered what other mums did with their children, i don't see how they do it xx

Start looking now for a registered childminder or local playscheme. Its tax deductable if you get family credits!
Social services keep the lists of childminders in oyur area, ask them about registered playschemes as well. My lad went and loved it, and they went on trips as well as doing different activities.

Some people don't have a choice but to work! If I had a choice I wouldn't, it's not as if I would rather be at work. I'd love to stay at home with my son but that's just not financially possible, so my sister in law has him half the week and nursery the rest.

There are a lot of after school clubs etc, that run in the holidays. Can be pretty pricey though.

Unfortunately I have to work to support myself and two children, I work full-time and my youngest has to go to the after school club until I finish work. Holidays are a nightmare as my ex does not see or financially support our children, so no help there, both of this parents have passed away, my brother does not live locally and works and I cannot afford to take that much time off of work and holiday clubs cost a fortune.

My parents are my saving grace, they look after them in the holidays while I work, I don't know where I'd be without them.

Its not choice on my part its necessity - your lucky to stay at home with them, make the most of it, as we working mothers always feel guilty about no spending enough time with our kids.

We found the best solution for child care like you i had kids to enjoy not to hand out to all the relatives so my husband works all week and i do a Friday Saturday and Sunday finishing at 12 noon so we stilll get to see each other and spend some time together so we don't have the problem with child care i'm here during the week so if the kids are sick i'm not needing to take time off to care for them and the same goes for holidays.

In the past my mum has looked after my eldest daughter and I felt guilty my mum loved having her but it restricted her. When my daughter was really young my manager and I used to split the week between us so we both worked two and a half days each that way I got to spend time with my daughter and it gave my mum a break to do her own thing

Now I am fortunate to work from home and my employer is very good in that I can be as flexible as I like with my hours as long as I get the work done they are happy for me to work around my daughters

You could get some money towards tax credids to help with childcare costs as they are price. I work 16 hours a week with a small child and 10 hours is fantastic you need your life back
