Woman is to submit to the man
This is done to show the man how to submit unto the Lord

But Man is not to abuse woman in any way shape or form, for woman is his helpmate, not his beating bag, or slave

I spent most of my life in what might be referred to as "fundimental" churches. Most 'fundies clearly believe the man should be the leader in the home. A few also believe a woman shouldn't take a leadership role in the church.

But that is the "fundies."

And that also is what the church teaches as opposed to what the indiviual members of the church believe.

Many Christians are more liberal minded. Many churches have female pastors.

The New Testiment clearly talks about the man being the leader, but leading with love. Some view this as a cultural thing. That a person should not disrupt the current system of the culture, but should submit. Therefore, with current culture not being the same, they believe the verses should be interpreted differently for today's society.

My point is, there is great variablitiy in what a Christian may believe.

'Submit' and 'serve'(as in man being dominant over women and women being slaves) mean two very different things. And,you know, the other verse is nearly never quoted by those who say that the Bible is misogynistic. Here we go:
Ephesians 5:25 :Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

Christians are called to put others ahead of ourselves, and others needs ahead of our own.Just because it mentions one group does not mean hatred of said group, especially when other groups are also called to do the same thing.

The Holy Bible says that man is over the woman just as Christ is over the church. It means what is says and says what it means.

So look at Christ and see how He is head of the church, and what that means to us.

In most areas of the Bible, man's authority over the woman has to do with husband and wife, or father and daughter, and not exactly any man over any woman (although this is sometimes implied).

Sarah called Abraham "lord" and this was used as an example of what God wants. But, to be in context, one must realize that Sarah would have considered herself a part of Abraham, because she knows that is what God has sanctioned.

In society, we have people in authority over others. This creates an order, so that we can live in a civilized society. In like manner, the house has an order. I agree with the Holy Word of God. If a society wants to be civilized, it will agree too with God.

In society, God permits women to be deaconesses, prophetesses, and judges (but in general to be over the women, and not the men, depending on her rank).

In a marriage, yes, a woman is to submit to her husband, but that doesn't refer to slavery. It refers to recognizing that he is the head of the household and the spiritual leader in the family, as God has appointed us in the Bible. God also instructs men to love their wives as Christ has loved us. "Submit" in the Bible isn't a slavery thing, it's an honoring thing.

Absolutely not.

Not any more than we should observe some of the other odd, ancient laws of the Old Testament.

Anyone who believes that "male dominant" stuff - well, they're entitled to their belief - has self-image issues.

Dear Friend,

The Bible teaches us the following,

Wives and Husbands
Ephesians 5: 22Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26to make her holy, cleansing[b] her by the washing with water through the word, 27and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— 30for we are members of his body. 31"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh."[c] 32This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Dominant is not the correct word to use, Christian husbands love their wives in a deep and meaningful way, Because Christians believe in the prospect of Eternal life their wives are not just a companion for 50 or 60 years but for eternity.

God Bless

1 Corinthians 11:3: "...Christ is the head of every man, and a husband the head of his wife, and the head of Christ is God."

1 Corinthians 14:34-35: "...women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says, If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church."

1 Corinthians 11:7-9:"For a man...is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; neither was man created for woman but woman for man. For this reason, and because of the angels, the woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head."

Yup, Paul was a homophobe and a misogynist.

To be fair, there is also some positive stuff in the New Testament (and more bad stuff):

The old testament is nearly all bad:
