The government reps who write the laws make it possible for dirtbags who have misfortune (slip/ fall/ spilled coffee) to get the mindset that they just won a lottery. And guess who writes the laws so they can make 33% or more on these lawsuits? Scumbag attorneys.
NEWSFLASH people: Bad things happen. Suing generally means that you refuse to take personal responsibility for your role in it, plus you want to get paid for it!
Its sad.

I absolutely agree with you. I can't stand dumb lawsuits either. Some people are just greedy and want to exploit others to get easy money for themselves and will use any excuse they have to do so. It is very immoral. I'm glad the court system in my country usually dismisses such cases.
If I'd be harmed (and then I mean something more serious than a sore tongue for a few days after drinking something hot) by somebody's recklessness or intention, then I would consider suing them, but I wouldn't sue someone over something that didn't harm me badly or wasn't their fault.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks this. I don't see why people are even allowed to sue people over these dumb things. If someone sued me over a cup of coffee I'd loose it and probably attack them. I get really pissed off when I hear on the news that someone was sued for calling somone a name or becuase a piece of hair was found in a customers food. It's rediculous that this is even allowed. Everyone that lives in the U.S like I do will get sued an estimated 4-6 times in their life if this keeps up, and that's for the careful people

This why lawyer should not be able to make laws that no one can understand not even other lawyers & this why we have different degrees of things like murder, pretty soon you'll just have to pay if your convicted for it ( Like OJ) everything is about the money why do you think if something happens to people , then they try to get lawyer so the can sue some one & then try to get a book deal out of it . It's all about the money & their 15 minutes of fame.

No. I wouldn't sue for something I'm responsible for, but I would if my life or well being was change due to a company's negligent. Personally, I see taking (frivolous suit) something not earned as a form of theft.

Sadly, I know the answer to your question. My husband's sister and her husband tried to sue us for not paying rent to them while living in their rented house. I had paid them by check each month and had all the canceled checks. They have visited us in our home and have stolen things of small value when we were not in the room. They only call when they need money. They are in their 50's and have moved in with their 24 year old son, his wife and their two babies.
Morals .... these family members have none!

It would seem some people refuse to take responsibility for themselves and choose to blame others for their own mistakes etc. It is a shame. As for the question you posed, no i would not do it for quick cash. I can't think of an example at the moment where i would. Take care.

That is why you see all those court shows on television . They are thinking of doing what England does in court...if you lose you pay for everything ,that cut down on a lot of feeble cases. The ambulance chasers started this get rich scheme.
