i bought her from a lady who told me she bought her from a breeder she got her papers she is healthy apart from diahreah which at the moment we are in the vets every week with trying to get to the bottom of it i have had her 3 weeks and i have just introduced her to proper puppy food as the only diet she ever had was chicken and rice because she has always had diahrea (she is definatley not off her food or water)

Cavaliers come in all different shapes and sizes depending on their breeding. If your vet isn't concerned then she will be ok. The cause of her diarrhea could be a food intollerance. One of my cavs had alot of problems with diarrhea and it turned out it was the food she was eating. Finally after trying her on several brands Iams did the trick.

If you want any advice on her please e-mail me at cavviecath@yahoo.co.uk

Best of luck

PS Cavvies are truely the best breed of dog :-)

it does depend on where you bought her from! if you bought her from a reputable breeder (one who has every available health check done, had them de-flead, de-wormed etc and provides you with documentation, lets you see the puppies mother, and other dogs and registers with the kennel club) she should be bigger than that. however if you bought her from a 'pet' breeder (normally someone who doesnt know about healthchecking, de-worming, de-fleaing etc and either registers them with the KC or decides its too much money and doesnt register them!) there is a good chance that she may well develop problems later in life but she still should be of a fair size. BUT if you bought her from a 'puppy farm' (normally an outlet that sells a vast array of 'pedigree dogs' at highly inflated prices-WITHOUT healtchecks etc etc etc and they are usually shipped over from ireland in bulk, many are sick, weakly puppies and do not survive their first year of life! ) then you could have a very problamatic dog-she should NOT be that small-have you checked her teeth? she should almost have her full set of adult teeth by now! she should also be eating a proper puppy diet and not just chicken/rice, there is not enough nutritional value in that diet to supplement a pups growing body! and finally please take her to the vet! if she is off her food it could be a more serious underlying problem with her and you need to get it checked out ASAP!

I also have a CKCS (Cavvy). He is 12mths old and has been a very fussy eater thus making him small. When we 1st got him (10 weeks old) he would always have a runny bottom. I took him to the vets and he was ok, so I put the runny bottom down to over feeding and the food he was on. So I changed his food (from EUKANUBA PUPPY to JAMES WELBELOVED) I also fed him little and often this has changed him. He no longer get's upset tummy and he has gained weight. He also just got castrated and this as helped to as this has increased his appetite.
What I have also found if Charlie is off his food I give him half a can of Pedigree chum (Original) which always works and gets him eating again

if you are talking about cavalier king charles, i have seen them really tiny, 5lbs, and really large 40lbs, so my guess is stay small.but make sure to touch mase with the vet to make sure that her size is not a health issue
