I have been practicing capoeira for a few months now and I'm realy getting in to the musical part of this great martial art. I'm trying to learn a few lyrics and of course many of them contain the famous frase paranae(or paranue) paranae parana. I am reall wondering what it means. I have asked my teacher but the problem is that he is a Brazilian immigrant and his knowledge of dutch(my native language) is limited. From the translations of lyrics I've understood that it can not be literally translated but I'm wondering if some one can give me an understandable explanation of it's meaning. first clear answer wins 10 points

Parana e; not paranae.

Parana e, parana e, parana

Parana was the name of a river in Brazil. Those Africans who wrote that song were singing about going back to Africa.

playing a berimbau,

Oxalá nos traz o bem,
