Private charges can be different for the same filling as you have more options - talk with your dentist. Here are the NHS charges though...

Since April of last year the NHS changed the way people pay for their treatment, there are now 3 bands of payment rather than pay per filling,crown,exam and so on. Band 1 is £15.50 this includes check up scale + polish and x-rays.;
Band 2 is £42.40, this includes everything in band 1 and any fillings you need. Private charges are differnt at every practice but around £40 to £50 for a filling, depending on size and shape, it could be more. Hope this helps you.

I think on the NHS you will be paying £42.50 for exam plus treatment .My dentist charges £62 for white fillings or £50 for the silver ones if you decide to go private.Some dentists have a payment plan where you can spread the cost by paying monthly direct debit.Joining the plan can also lower the cost of the fillings.At my dentist you save 25% on all treatments if you are in the plan.I pay £11.95 a month which covers 2 exams and 2 hygenist visits a year.

One filling on the NHS would cost you £42.20, this would cost you the same amount regardless of whether you needed one or 4 fillings, it's a set fee for a set course of treatment.
To have fillings done on a private basis is down to each individual dentist, both my dentists start charging £50 upwards for white fillings, they base this fee on how many surfaces of the tooth needs to be filled!

the nhs has now changed there costs so no matter what nhs dentist you use the costs are all the same. they are set to 3 basic sosts the first one is £15.50 this is for a check up and xrays. the second costs jumps up to £42.00 this covers a check up xrays and a clean and also one more difficult treatment such as a filling or tooth extraction. the next cost is a big jump and is £180.00 this is if you need more than one large treatment such as several filling or tooth extractions or any other major treatment. im afraid i dont know the private cost and i think this may vary from dentist to dentist. hope it helps!

NHS charge is £42.40 for one or more fillings.
Private charge can be anything form £60 up, the dentists decide how much they will charge privately so it is different in each private practice.
The way the NHS price scheme is worked out is as follows:

£15.50 - Check up, x-rays, small amount of cleaning (scale and polish).
£42.40 - Check up, x-rays, cleaning, fillings, extractions etc.
£189.00 - Check up, X-rays, Cleaning, filling, Extractions, Crowns, Dentures, Bridgework.
