really should leave him at home. Doggs do not do well flying but....For Europian countries, they are required to have a Veterinary Certificate. This certificate must be accompanied by supporting documentation, originals or certified copies, of the vaccination record and for dogs the blood test results, all this 30 days before the flight.your pup can not fly in the cabin with you he will have to go in cargo hold. it's not safe to have him in the cabin with you. and it will be very stressful for your pup. He will not be happy when you pick him up. it is alot of hassel and some hotels won't let you have doggs and what are you going to do with him when you go out to eat and other plases leave him i in the hotel? if your gonna do that why bring him? he will be a bigg hassel with little or no reward. leave him home with a friend or in a good kennel.

Hello, You'll need a Health Certificat for Europe, all shots need to be up to date, If I remember right everything medical has to be done 30 days before departure. About taking the Dog inside the plane with you....you need to contact the Airline, it depends on the age and size of the Dog.
Another Issue will be the Temperature most Airlines won't let your pet travel if it is to hot or to cold, if you are flying while it's extremely hot or cold you'll need another Document from the Vet saying that your Pet is healthy enough to cope with the Temperature.
Good luck and have a nice trip,
Janet

Dogs have to travel in the plane hold, they are not allowed in the cabin. For EU countries, they are required to have a Veterinary Certificate. This certificate must be accompanied by supporting documentation, originals or certified copies, of the vaccination record and, for dogs and cats, the blood test result, both bearing the animal’s microchip number.
Just think of all the trauma the long flights are going to cause to your dog, all because you "want to take him with you" - why?? Do you think he will appreciate the Sicilian culture or cuisine, or the beautiful scenery? He is going to get nothing positive out of this. Please leave him in a good boarding kennels.

You'll need to check with the Italian government's guidelines for animals coming in from other countries. Many countries have mandatory quarantine on arrival (with facilities right in the airport for this) and depending on how long your trip is, you might be done before the quarantine is even over. I suggest finding a good kennel at home and enjoy your vacation.

You have a small dog so I say get a carrier and buy a ticket. Check with the airlines first though. May be different with different airlines.

sorry, i'm not that fond of small dogs.
but i don't think the dog can get a regular ticket. usually they have to be kept in a seperate rooms, plus they need all sorts of documents, including passport! (at least my dog did).
