I have a friend 19 years of age. He has never been in trouble with the law at all. He decided to be an idiot and run from the police last night. I was wondering if this is a felony in Wyoming and what his sentence might be since it would be his first offense.

Eluding a police officer is a felony in Wyoming.

It is punishable by a fine of notmore than five thousand dollars ($5,000.00), or imprisonment for not less than one (1) year nor more than three (3) years. He could get both the fine and imprisonment if, in the course of fleeing or eluding a police officer, he drove his vehicle in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property.

He'll most likley have to go to court and explain his actions and it may be dismissed. Bad idea to run from the Cops as it is dangerous for everyone.

I'm not sure that fleeing from the police is legal anywhere. Someone please clarify?
