Why do some people have their eyes half open even when they are in deep sleep?

My grand ma have this habit. Is there any remedy for this?

In some people, eye lids will not close completely during sleep, particularly the lower lid, but upper one covers full retina. Hence it looks so.

Loose muscle tissue in older people perhaps.
