In order to have a design - there has to be a designer
In order to have a Creation, there has to be a Creator.
In the beginning..... Geneis chapter 1 v 1
Simple really - isn't it!

You have the wrong perspective. The world was not designed to allow mankind to flourish, mankind adapted to the world as it was.
For atheists, there is no way how they "must" live. They can choose freely how to live, and how to give their own life a meaning.

You mean is it depressing that there is no 'goal' or grand design or point to life? No, why should it be. It means that I am free to choose my own goals and meaning, and to stop your moral absolutist ideas, that does not mean I can go on a rampage of killing or such, I am as constrained by the customs and morals of society and the web of love and trust that exists between me and my parents/loved ones/peers/colleagues/children as you are, even though you seem to think that you don't go killing because god told you not to.
As for your last point "How do you explain that this world seems to be designed to allow mankind, and human consciousness to flourish" you are arguing that we are here because this planet supports us. Duh. That is why we can be here. The planet has not fit itself to us, we have evolved to fit this planet. Everything has.

Quite simple about the appearance thing. If it did not support life then there would not be any we to worry about it.
Accident, fine. Follows natural laws, better.
Seems designed? that assumes a designer and that is not evident from any of the data. It is just a primitive explanation.
I wonder if the fungus growing on the stuff in the back of your fridge believes the fridge was specially created for it to grow in.

What are you talking about?
My life is meaning because its meaning to ME and the people I care about. No other reason. There is no lofty design.
There is no "design" other than the one you make up in your own head.
Talk about arrogant. Stop placing yourself above everything else in the universe. The earth will go on quite well after you are gone just like it did before you came into existance. The same for all of humanity.

Not all Atheists believe in the Big Bang theory. Get your facts right. As the saying goes, there is more than one way to skin a cat - and there is definitely more than one way to explain the universe.

Lives and relationships are meaningful because we, exercising our human consciousness, give them meaning.

If "to worship God" is your idea of a meaningful life or a suitable ultimate purpose, you've got some serious problems. I'd kill myself if I thought life had no more meaning than that.

You have no idea what man is capable of. The exploration of the human brain is finding new things about ourselves. Mind over matter....Look into it, learn about it, its amazing.

I'm not a religious person, but all I can say is I don't know how everything began, and neither do you (regardless of what you believe).
Also, I don't care to know.
