Honestly, I have been having this prblem for many years now. But it has grown to its peak in last almost one year. I have my mind running thinking getting worried about anything. I have just turned 25. During day i do find my mind racing and in kind of daze. This daze comes as i have not slept peacefully and sound.I have noticed as it happnens daily with me. No matter if have slept for 8-9 Hrs. I get up so tired and depressed. My mind keeps racing dreaming whole night thinking about something that might take place the in future or might have taken place in past or may be the last day. This has become really a pain for me as I get up tired and i am kind of sleepy whole day and desires to take nap but when try to do that to energize myself, I feel the same thing again and find my mind racing. I have seen people sleeping for only 5-6 Hrs and they are fresh and motivated like anything on work. But I wake up in daze, showers & go for work and people ask havent i slept last night.

Go see your doctor, you could be suffering from a sleep disorder, anxiety, mild to servere depression or a combination of all three. I started having the same problems after I suffered a brain injury on a bicycle ride. It has taken me 20 months to find the right combination of meds to keep me focused and awake....feel free to e-mail me

I feel that in your description of what your dealing with that you have described me exactly. I have a lot of racing thoughts that prevent me from doing things I need to do. I have a hard time concentrating and my memory sucks. I get very little sleep and am often exhausted. I do see a psychologist once a week, but I see a psychiatrist as well. She gave me Wellbutrin for anxiety and depression, and Seroquel for racing thoughts. I have to say that the Seroquel, i take it before bed, does shut off my head enough to fall asleep. I also have trouble staying asleep though, so I take trazadone for that. After a while your body will get used to sleeping a full night without waking up and you won't have to rely on the drugs so much.

Dear Racing thoughts,

My advice would be to see a psychiatrist. No this doesnt mean your crazy they help with any mental issues and this is obviously mental and if it is starting to affect your physical health therefore it needs to be addressed. Or sometimes just asking your family doctor can help but i would get a referral from him/her. Psyciatrist might prescribe an anti-psychotic medication. I know it sounds awful but its better than any tranquilizers (dont let them give you these they make you more tired and are habit forming) Serquel or Zyprexa are two examples. They will slow your thoughts and put them in order. Yes they are used for schzophrenia but a low dose can help. Look them up on here or just suggest this to your doctor. No one has to know just you and your doctor...its all confidential and like i said it could just be temporary.

I am not a professional but sounds like maybe anxiety..Does your heart race? Feel like jumpiing out of your skin? Overstressed? Try your family physician. Before running for counseling. Chemical imbalances can create havoc and I understand can be easily treated in some cases.
Good Luck!

Your mind is like your pet dog. If your pet dog is not trained, it will just race around. The only way to train your mind is through meditation. You need at least 1 month of daily practice to see any improvement. Try to meditate at least 1 hour per session.

Once your mind is trained, it will stay focused as long as you don't drink alcoholic drinks.

Two choices, drugs or exercise. Try running.
