the police search for someone because this person is on parole, they find him. they tackle him to the ground and beat him, choke him, tell him "your gonna die m_th_r F__k_r! your donna die" they continue to beat him as he yells for help. They arrest him, he has a warrant. The next day they go and pick up the video surveillance tape from the public place this happened at. The defendents sister goes to the place to request the video surrveilance of her brother getting beat by the police & is told that a detective already picked up a copy. he will not give her a copy of the tape. The police report says the defendent injured 6 cops. the cops are big guys. the defendent is 5'8" and not an aggressive or violent person. no history of violence.

Do you think it is strange that in the detailed police report the police do not mention anything about the video tape they picked up?

Do the police have to put EVERYTHING related to the case and all evidence collected into the police report?

This doesn't seem right but there is 2 sides to every story and the facts occasionally lie somewhere in between those 2 sides. Without the video tape how do you know it took place like you said it did? Not to say that all police are perfectly honest, but this sounds like the paroled criminal's account of what took place. Being a criminal is going to make the guy's credibility questionable at best. It is best to stay as uninvolved personally with these kind situations as possible.

Well the truth of the matter is that there are thousands of complaints collecting dust in tha LAPD internal affairs. The only resource you have is to approach the media. The media would be the only one powerful enough to help you. Although if there is no celebrity issue there is noone that would or could bring the LAPD down the tubes , come on now they had the Rodney King tapes and look what happened. Not to count that obviously if you were on parole it must be for a reason.

By rights the video tape can and should be subpeonad by the defendants attorney. The defendants sister should take the witness stand to testify to the existance of the video tape, and the events that took place in trying to aquire said tape.
If a jury, or judge finds evidence inthe tape to show that the defendant was "jumped" or attacked by police for no reason, than the case could be thrown out, or the defendant could have a lawsuit against the city in question

What did he do that they got so mad at him? Having a warrant while on parole is bad news.
In any case, 1) he has injuries, cops have no injuries, 2) statement from "that place" that the tape did exist and had been picked up by the cops.

yes they do but try and fight it> to them the judge and everyone at the court house your filth when i video taped cops taking bribes i turned it in all it got me was an *** beating and i had to move. tape disappeared from evidence locker room. you probably will never see it again even with a high priced lawyer. this is why i recommend every one carry a video camera with them in the car at home make it wireless to a network server so there is no tape for them to take
and when the cops got a hard-on for you move hide lay low unless you have a nuke there's nothing you can do.

OF COURSE, there is something wrong with this and it probobly happens more than we know.

I hope you pursue righting this wrong. Call your local newspaper and get them to write a story, call the police department every day and tell them you know from the person that told you that the police had picked up the video tape.

Also, remember, the police work for us, we pay taxes which pay their salary. They need to cooperate with us just as we are supposed to cooperate with them.

Good luck, I sincerely mean that.

Nope. Why was this person on parole or whatever and why did they have a warrant? Stealing communion wine? I doubt it.
