I wasn't really a problem child growing up...as the oldest of 6, but compared to what my other brothers/sisters are and have been going through, I live an ideal life (actually, far from it). I raised 2 fine boys (one a Navy vet). I've accomplished a lot (without going into details and being accused of bragging by some yahoo) since I left home in 1965, what with being in the U.S. Navy for over 20 years. I was the first in my family to own my own home, and not a mobile home (not that it is a bad thing, but I also was the first NOT to live in a mobile home). I was the first to go to college (baby brother is now working on his Masters which I didn't get) and make the Dean's list while still on active duty. She was always amazed that I've been a Bible teacher for so many years after watching the messes I got into growing up. The years I've worked with kids, every time we go off with a group (usually hiking in the woods), I always made a cell phone call to her and most of the kids got to talk to 'GRANDMA.' I'd send her a picture of the group from that day. It's hard to include anything without seeming to brag.

My Mom is very happy with my life. I'm happily married, three children, active in church, dependable and just the opposite from my brother, who has broken their hearts over and over.

Yes I did. By growing into a responsible, kind, caring person, and raising my children that way.
