navigare necesse est, vivere non est necesse. How does you say this in Spanish? Is there a Spanish proverb similar?

Navigar necesario es, vivir no es necesario.

It is quoted by Cervantes in "Canción de la vela, sin vela" http://www.cervantesvirtual.com/servlet/SirveObras/08142847511370895332268/p0000002.htm, but in the original Latin.

"Navegar es necesario, (pero) vivir no lo es".
is also possible to say in a different way, by swicthing the two verbs "No es necesario vivir sino navegar"
