A spiritual warrior can mean many things. The pastor, the evangelist as well as those who never preach a sermon. Those who pray for the people who are up in the forfront are also warriors. Just as in the armed service, those who aid the combat soldier are also warriors. The cook, the supply, the machanic are all warriors even though they do not actually fire a weapon. The same is true with those who aid the preacher with their prayers and love.

It depends on the context. I would look at the kind of spiritual warrior that Meerkatz and Allman are talking about as ideal.

The other kind are the ones that instead of looking within, are or potentially going to kill some one else because they have demonized or de-humanized them. I would also consider missionaries, of this kind of exterior manifestation of spiritual warriorship. Dogmatic and dictatorial.

Peace.

Oxymoron, honestly.

Usually this term is used by people who feel a strong tendency for violence, but wish to have it sanctioned by a religion.

This term was also used to describe a group of people who pray or affirm for a non-violent action to aid in the propagation of peace. I like this definition best.

A spiritual warrior does prayer wars, we know that the devil is tormenting Gods children in the earth and that because we have believed in the Name of Jesus We got his holy spirit! Now this Holy spirit is in the earth doing warfare on behalf of gods children trying to free them from the enemy, Now we find that the Bible is a weapon, it is a spiritual weapon and the devil hates it and has to submit to us in the name of Jesus. Now once you get born again by receiving this spirit, read john 3 and acts 2, then you will see the enemy because God will open your spiritual eyes and you will then enter the war, and you read and worship the Lord and ask him to do things like save the people and free our family members from drugs and everything else, we do ware fare in prayer and God starts to move and do things like save your loved ones that you have been doing prayer wars fervent and many over days months and years and God saves them and then we sing!

The phrase spiritual warrior seems a paradox, for how can a warrior be spiritual?

Anyone can be a spiritual warrior. Doctors, ministers, plumbers, lawyers, florists, artists, writers, housewives and football players. It is just what you are a warrior for!

Warriors fight and often sacrifice their lives to preserve what they believe is right and to protect their family and country. We can understand why those who would advance spiritually are often portrayed as warriors.

To be a spiritual warrior is to bring balance to yourself and to others you meet. It is about not believing everything others tell you that has worked in their reality, but finding your own truth. It is about listening to your inner voice, higher guidance, your soul. It is then you regain your personal power and identity. You become the spiritual warrior who has broken free.

We are all spiritual warriors fighting the duality of good vs. evil in a game created by the dark forces of our world. The spiritual warrior within you needs to attack that which holds you back, especially mental and physical illness, that which self-sabotages your inner essence, overeating, substance abuse, addictions, anything that keeps your spiritual warrior imprisoned. The spiritual warrior sees beyond the veil, into the truth. It is time to cut through the obstacles in your life. These are any obstacles that keeps one from spiritual health.

Of course the spiritual warrior has all the characteristics of a true hero even though he may modestly deny them.

Some necessary characteristics might include:

Sacrifice is the forfeiture of something highly valued for the sake of one considered having a greater claim.

Determination is a fixed intention or resolution; a firmness of purpose or resolve.

Loyalty is the feeling of allegiance or the act of binding oneself to a course of action.

Courage is that firmness of spirit and swell of soul which meets danger without fear.

Dedication is a selfless devotion; complete and whole hearted fidelity or the act of binding oneself to a course of action.

Intrepidity is firm, unshaken courage.

Valor is courage exhibited in war, and can not be applied to single combats.

Selfless is the quality of unselfish concern for the welfare of others and acting with less concern for yourself.

Conviction is a fixed or strong belief; a necessity of the mind or an unshakable belief.

Focused is the ability to direct one's energy toward a particular point or purpose; to concentrate one's energy.

Gallantry is adventurous courage, which courts danger with a high and cheerful spirit.

Perseverance is a persistent determination.

Fortitude has often been styled "passive courage," and consists in the habit of encountering danger and enduring pain with a steadfast and unbroken spirit.

Bravery is daring and impetuous courage, like that of one who has the reward continually in view, and displays his courage in daring acts

The Sufis, Mystics of Islam, believe the inner jihad is greater than the outer jihad. To a Sufi the life of the spirit is held in great reverence. We consider the inner Jihadist to be a spiritual warrior as well. It is a challenge to nurture the above traits and does not come easy to the passionate soul of the Persians, from whence Sufism arose.

The Sufi spiritual warriors I have met have all been dignified refined people of peace. They were honorable, brave, compassionate, strong, and truly warriors of light in a dark world.

I think there are as many ways to look at the term spiritual warriors as there are spiritual warriors. Even before discovering Sufism I considered myself to be a spiritual warrior, even though I was not familiar with the term. I was always striving to improve, fight my many various demons and help others as best I can.

We all fall at some time, but if we are truly spiritual warriors, we pick ourselves up and keep heading for the light.

The apostle Paul described the warfare of the Christian, saying: “We have a wrestling not against blood and flesh, but against the governments, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12;) Therefore the Christian’s fight is not against men. It is against wicked spirits who try to turn them away from God. Conversely, Jesus Christ explained to his followers that the world would hate and even kill them (Matthew 10:22; 24:9; John 16:2) and that in some cases a man’s enemies would be those of his own household.—Matthew 10:36.
The Christian’s attitude toward fellow humans who make themselves his enemies would be as Jesus counseled: “Continue to love your enemies, to do good to those hating you.” (Luke 6:27, 28) He explained: “You heard that it was said [not in the Bible, but in tradition], ‘You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ However, I say to you: Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those persecuting you.” (Matthew 5:43, 44) And, doubtless referring to Proverbs 25:21, the apostle Paul admonishes: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him.” (Romans 12:20)
2Corinthians 10:4 says:For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but powerful by God for overturning strongly entrenched things. Some of these 'strongly entrenched things" may be within ourselves as we struggle between the sinful flesh, dearly held beliefs and traditions that conflict with true worship, and the spirit, which directs us in the way God would have us go.
