Pakistan is a predominatly Islam country which is supportive of the jihad and terrorist activities against Christian nations like US. Thus, it supports Al Qaeda and even send terrorists to Afghanistan for destruction of anti-Islam forces.

The Pakistani Government has been a key ally in fighting terrorists. However, there are many terrorists coming from Pakistan into Afghanistan. The reason for this is that Pakistan is a big country with a weak central government. Areas to the west and north of the country are essentially not under the control of the Pakistani government and are more or less free to do whatever they please. These people happen to be the people who wish to support the terrorists in Afghanistan. Pakistan is unable to stop them.

Because the central government is out of touch with the population near the Afghan border. That's where bin Laden and Taliban supporters roost. It will continue until the Pakistani military takes action against them. Problem is that the general population supports bin Laden and the Taliban. It's a fact that can't easily be resolved. Fantacism is all they know.

In a house you may not always agree with your spouse, but you support them when they have a conflict with a neighbour.
In a political party you may not always agree with them, but you support them over the opposition.
In a country you may not support everything your country does, but you support them over your perceived enemies (My Country right or wrong)
Pakistan may not agree with what some of the people in that country do, but to denounce them and support their enemies is going too far.
Numerous people believe that the war in Iraq was wrong, but very few would come out and support people fighting American troops.
To test this theory take your neighbours side over your wifes, and you'll find the horror of holy war.
