Well being able to recite the Koran from memory, is not something Christianity requires, but then again I have been appalled by the lack of general knowledge of the bible, and the basis of Christian faith among many, so called believers. true belief means nothing except ignorance. However it was only a short time ago, that it was against church law for a Catholics layperson to own or read a bible...perhaps that added to the stupidness, or the mystery. Take your pick.

Being judgemental requires a lot of thinking. If nothing else, it demands that you know your religion. So it is like you are saying they are putting out all of the fires and that you don't understand this because they call themselves firemen.
Asking children anything is not a good test of intelligence, but it is a good test of whether or not they have learned a thing or not. I do not believe that 17 out of 20 children know what "race" is, I especially doubt that a Jewish person is distinguishable by a child as being "non-white".
Some Christians have not given their religion a lot of thought, and it is true that your average really good Muslim has been drilled the Koran since a very young age. They are slipping, but at the same time, many Christians are raised into a Christian society (to a degree) and they feel less of a need to teach their children about their religion.
Now that is a shame, however, this does not make their children stupid, unless you are saying that not being very Christian is stupid.
Christians are at various levels of maturity. You can live your life for yourself all your life and then at some point decide to become a Christian. At this point, you are not going to look or act like a Christian most likely, and it will take time to get everything down, and even more time to start practicing being a Christian.
This does not make them stupid, nor does it make them less of a Christian. It is just the natural process that all must go through. Hopefully most Christians will get right on it and start studying the Bible, but you can catch even one of these valiant people before they understand something and say to yourself, "look how stupid they are!" But why be mean?
In response to your additional details:
Basing a group on an individual is not a good idea.
Also, if you find facts about something, should you not then be closed minded to the lies? At least until evidence is presented to the contrary? For instance: If you were "open minded" and jumped off a building on the assumption that the law of gravity is not enforce today, or on the assumption that your idea of gravity is kinder, gentler and that you will not go "splat," will gravity suddenly do things your way? Is there really anything wrong with being "closed minded" and screaming at a person who is about to jump off a building, "don't jump off that building or you will be killed!" Might seem rude, might save your life. Keep in mind that the closed minded person was right about gravity and knew what they were talking about. Especially keep in mind that if that closed minded person did not exist, the law of gravity still does exist.
In other words, you may be tacking onto the messanger the attributes of the unbreakable laws which never change. Some messagers get it wrong, granted, but again, don't paint the entire group by one person's error.

How old were the children you asked? If they were very young they are only learning the basics and have yet to fully understand the history of the Bible. That doesn't make the religion corrupt, it just means they are young and inexperienced.
As for people going to hell who have never heard of Jesus, that's not true. God reaches out to everyone and He knows the heart of people. We can't judge who He has touched, especially if we've never talked to them. People don't always think of the same questions you would. The confusion may have been just that the idea had never occurred to him so he had no real idea how to answer.
As for reading books that make you sick about the Christian religion, you might want to try reading some of the things people in the church have written. It's pretty obvious from many of the questions and answers here that there is great misunderstanding about Christianity.

Some of what you say is true.
True Christianity is all about truth. The Bible warns us to be wary of false teachers and false doctrines.
Some folks who think they are Christians are actually being fooled by false teachings. This becomes evident when tiny topics become major divisions among people.
The Bible only describes one true Church. It does not have a denominational name. Those Churches proclaiming denominational names are in dangerous waters. The Bible speaks against such divisions in the Church.
As for the children you spoke to, were these children white? Of course they are going to think Jesus is white. They are kids! Go to a black church and ask the same question. Go to a Chinese church and try there. Now THAT could be enlightening. How do I know this? I attend services at a white church, black church, and a chinese church in my city.
The truth is that Jesus was a Jew, and was probably a light brown or olive complexion. But, what difference does that make? It was the words He said and the life He lived that are meaningful. That could be why detailed physical descriptions of Jesus are not mentioned anywhere in the Bible. God knows that some humans will try to lay claim that Jesus is 'their' savior because they look the same or share some DNA somewhere. The truth is that Jesus was the Messiah for everybody. Period.
The mission of all Christians is to share the Good News. Not to force it upon people, but to share it and let the truth speak for itself. The Good News we share is that Jesus came to Earth to fulfill the Jewish Law, and to open up Heaven to everybody. First for the Jews, since they were the first chosen, then for the Gentiles, which is everybody else. I am a gentile.
God can do whatever he wants. He may decide that everyone who did not hear the Good News had no chance to listen and obey so they might be saved anyway.
We humans think we are all that and a bag of chips, but we really do not have any idea what God is thinking. His thoughts and plans are far beyond anything we can even imagine. We do not know the disposition of those who do not turn to Christianity, or those that listenedd to false teachings.
I, myself, believe that I have found a congregation of God's people that is following the Bible, God's Inspired Word. When Jesus comes back to claim His Church, I am hoping that I am right there in the front right where He is going to look first.
I sincerely hope he looks around elsewhere, too, because I see many good folks in many denominations, and I would feel bad if they failed to make Heaven just because they listened to some fool who thought he knew more that God Himself. And I really hope I am not some fool!

You cant judge a whole religion on a few people you have encountered. What do you want to know and I will give you answer, scair7@sbcglobal.net
There are many who are blind guides true, but the father of heaven and his Holy spirit found only in the name of Jesus is very real and great! Read john 3 and acts 2 and get that Holy spirit, in Jesus name. That's why were christian, we believed what he said about Jesus and he sent his Holy spirit into us and we became born again, and now when you tell us about anything other than this spirit we really don't care because it is from this world and we have tapped into the spirit of the living God by his spirit! Not of this world!John 3 if you really want to know.

I am sorry that you are around stupid Christians, just remember that lots of people claim to be a Christian, but a true Christian will not judge you but guide you and enlighten you, a true Christian will have the answers, because they study and are interested in what the Word has to say, And if they don't know the answer they will tell you that they will research it and get back to you, and a true Christian will be there in your time of need, if you ask for help, if you are needing a place to stay, or food, etc. Christians practice what Jesus preached and taught. There are a lot of people that are C and E Christians that would not know Christ if he hit them with a brick. It gives true Christians a bad name. I am sorry that you have had such a bad experience with Christians. We are all human, we all sin,Christians are simply forgiven.

Christians are not stupid, we have answers to questions but does know every answers to a question because you asked it. So, therefore it does not make christians stupid. Some questions are irrelevant. According to the bible christians are to share the love of Christ and if some accept good, if not it's their choice. We have a free will - choose Christ will be the better choice - The scriptures says: Not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

I think you hurt me a bit there. But let me tell you not all are stupid. It is perhaps because Christian Living or Religion is not made an important subject in you're country's schools. But Try asking Filipinos and see if we're any different. I'm not sure but try especially Catholic school graduates. By the way, I didn't mean that only the Philippines made religion a serious subject.

About the children thing: Popular concepts of Jesus look the way that everyone in the population looks, hence Nordic American Jesus (from an originally largely Caucasian population), Semitic Middle Eastern Jesus, Black African Jesus, Hispanic Mexican Jesus - you get the idea. That's not necessarily ignorance, but more artistic license.
A lot of Christians I have met ARE informed. I think your sample isn't from Christianity as a whole but from a particularly uninformed sample group you're pulling from.

You are perfectly right to judge them as this is exactly why real Christians are having a problem with the people such as you describe because THEY ARE judging people themselves and trying to insinuate that they are morally and ethically superior and above other people, when it's perfectly clear they are not obeying GOD'S words, and committing crimes and sinning against their American brothers and sisters. So the bilblical scripture is coming true for them. As they judge, so shall they be judged. If you were doing as they are doing, you would have no right to judge. But if after careful examination, you find you are not guilty of it, you are right to call them on it. It wouldn't be right to just stay silent and not give them a chance to change their ways and avoid hell. A Christian is supposed to do this very thing to help his brothers and sisters to avoid the judgement.
