I had cable TV installed 10 days ago, got my first bill on friday and since yesterday I get the message that my SmartCard is invalid (1016) and I cannot watch all the channels. Sometimes it even says there is no SmartCard inserted (1004) but it has not moved since it was installed ... What can I do to rectify ??

give them a call, this happened to me just after installation. They will probably get you to reset the box over the phone, if this doesnt work they'll send someone out

You can ring the faults service anytime of day or night on 150 from your virgin line phone free of charge. They can often resolve these type of problems without going to your house.

try removing the power cord and re inserting it after 30 seconds.also try removing the card and check its in correctly ie not upsidedown.if all this fails then get virgin media engineer out.
