Picture what an afro looks like....that's what my hair is. It's really dry, curly, thick, and frizzy. Everytime I try to straighten it, it looks dull and dead. Also, after an hour or so, it starts getting frizzy again. I want my hair to be shiny, but also stay straight. I use the Friz-ease products now...it works, but not that well in my case. Can you help me out? Give me some tips or products I should try.

Glatt is a wonderful hair straightening product. You put it on like a hair relaxer. But, it doesn't burn at all. Therefore, you can really take your time putting it on your hair. It'll keep your hair straight for 3 to 4 months. Also, condition your hair alot, and use hot oil treatments.

I wish you the very best.

I am a hairdresser but i also have a very soft Afro i straighten my hair with a GHD iron and i use a shine serum everyone is different and has likes and dislikes about products i use Glass by redken and a straightening balm d-curl made by MOP modern organic products then i let my hair dry naturally if i can using the hairdryer and the irons will dry your hair out more than necessary if you let it dry naturally it less stress when you straighten you hair with the irons then taking small sections i use a spray gloss again by mop called glisten weightless spray gloss you don't want to use products that are to heavy to get the shine back use a hydrating shampoo and use a extreme moisture treatment instead of conditioner always also a protein treatment once a week you will get better curls when you wear it curly and alot more shine and longer lasting straight hair style but you have to change the way you look after you hair to have beautiful glossy hair take maintenance not hard work just a routine

You can try a shine serum for Smooth andShine ( I think that's the name, it comes in a black and pink wrapper) or Optimum has a shine serum too, I don't have an afro, but I use it for shine when I flat iron my hair. It keeps my hair soft and shiny and healthy looking.
