Better to blow.
But I always sniff, I feel too embarrassed to blow. I don't want to sound like a foghorn. But my sniffing must surely annoy people. So I go to the loo and do it in a cubicle or wander off to a secluded area and have a good old blow. LOL
They should make tissues that deaden the sound. : )

Blow your nose it's better than sniffing it drives people crazy i work with a sniffer and she drives me mad, Go to the bathroom if it makes you feel more comfortable in doing it there but blow not sniff cause all that snot lands in your tummy.

Sniffing is horrible, it is like being around a child. If i am in polite company i will discreetly dab my nose or excuse myself and blow my nose in the loo. The noise doesn't bother me but the germs sprayed everywhere would!

It depends on your cultural context. In many western European countries, people commonly blow their noses in public, but in "polite company" in the US and Britain, it's considered rude. In many eastern cultures, it would be absolutely unacceptable, disgusting. The best thing? Don't do it. Go away from other people to blow your nose.

With some others, I say off to the loo if at all possible, if not, the quietly, gently.
We don't call noses honkers for any reason but the sounds that can come forth.
A light sniffle isn't bad either, but again the noise factor is key.

nature calls at any point in time, but one has to be mannered and respect other people when in public, it is a sign of loos conduct to blow your nose without regard for other people, public manners has to be observed, better sniff with your hanker-chief

Sniffing is the most socially unacceptable sound ever (well maybe I exaggerate...). Better to have a quick blow and get it over with. If you really want to be polite or are eating with others, goto the toilet and have a really good blow and root around :)

Blowing is better than sniff sniff sniffing. If a person can though, they should go to the bathroom to do it.
I'd rather hear one blow than that sniff sniff sniffing!

Seeing someone at their desk sniffing every five minutes is totally gross and annoying.
Please blow your nose.
If you won't do it in front of others then go out to the hall.

It's better to blow your nose than feel the mucus drip from your nose all day long. BUT...be sure to keep it as nondisgusting as you can.
