It's definately not good for him to have beer as his liver won't be able to handle it in the long run.
He obviously likes the stuff, and as soon as you have some around him he can smell it and immediately wants some. He is basically begging, whihc you can teach dogs not to do by firmly telling him no as soon as he does it. You have to be very consequent though, and tell him no as soon as he does it, don't give an inch or he will immediately have the hope of that he will be able to push you over and the training will take a whole lot longer. If, after telling him no, he backs off, award him for good behaviour (tell him good boy, give him a pat on the head, or a treat). In the beginning he might start begging straight away after you've awarded him, but tell him firmly no again untill he gets the message.
Try not to spill beer, and if you do, make sure he doesn't get to lick it up and whipe it up immediately.

Proof that a dog is smarter than a man.
Give the dog its fill of beer (booze). The dog will get an enormous hangover and NEVER ... and I really mean NEVER ... touch a drop of the stuff again!
See unlike man that doesn't learn that alcohol can be bad for you ... the dog will remember that hangover and never touch the stuff ever again. That's why a dog is smarter than a man.
My friend had a dog that did what yours does and so he and his parents gave him too much beer and ever since he would run away if you even took a beer from the fridge or opened a bottle. It was pretty funny actually since he would come running thinking you might be going for the freezer and the ice cream that he adored ... and when you went for the beer instead he'd turn around and go running the other way ... pretty funny. For even more fun we'd have a bowl of ice cream AND a beer, and the poor dog didn't know which way to go. (But we never did it in a cruel way.)

Dogs don't metabolize beer the same way that humans do. Don't give them the stuff. The carbonation in beer can also cause bloat in dogs and is poisonous.
However; there is a company (I threw in the link) that makes specialized "doggy-beer" (non-alcoholic/non-carbonated) that is safe and ok for dogs to drink.
I'm a little wary of it personally. I would try to find out more information about the company before actually trying the stuff.

Beer is made from hops, and hops is toxic to dogs. Tell him he is underaged...He will enjoy a can of unsalted broth, which is refreshing and safe for him.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_health
Hops, a plant used in making beer, can cause malignant hyperthermia in dogs, usually with fatal results. Certain breeds, such as Greyhounds, seem particularly sensitive to hop toxicity, but hops should be kept away from all dogs. Even small amounts of hops can trigger a potentially deadly reaction, even if the hops are "spent" after use in brewing.

Who doesnt love beer! I do for sure but I believe alchohol and dogs dont mix. It is not good for their electrolites and can cause serious damage.
If you have beer you want to give away send it my way! When your'e having a beer give the dog a little treat like a kong (something that will take his mind of your beer and still will entertain him giving him something he too will enjoy)

Dose beer effect humans health? Is beer good for humans? Drugs that people take animals may have access to it too, such as alcohol, does not mean drugs are good for our pets any more then they are for humans.

Oh my god. Who cares if he begs?!! Just STOP, now.
I left my wine on the floor once and my dog had a quick lick of it without me having time to move it away from him. I'm sure he loved it, but would I ever consider giving him any more? NO. Even if he begged? NO. Am I more careful now? YES. Jesus Christ.
