i just use the pure unrefined sea salt - its not pure white. The most famous is "celtic" sea salt. It has a lot of different salts rather than just the one (sodium chloride) and so its more balanced and healthy. Tastes better too - more interesting.

use as little real salt as you can handle.

always try foods before automatically salting them.

use strong flavors instead of salt - hot sauce, herbs, spices, etc.
