Why do people look down upon DINKS?

Why do people frown upon DINKS(Double Income No Kids)?
Don't people have the right to choose their own lifestyle? Afterall isn't it better not to have children than to have them and forced to neglect them due to lack of time or energy? Besides these couples also set an example of family planning to the under developed nations!

I personally see no problem with it and don't know what anyone would have to say about it. I think it is a very responsible decision. There are way too many people whining because they cannot provide for their children financially or emotionally and end up raising little hellions with psychological issues.
I applaud all couples who can make an educated choice as this one.
I have four girls and would not trade them for a million bucks, but it is hard, and I understand that some people are just not cut out to have children.

I think that most people want a family so it is hard for them to understand any body that does not. They prejudge them and assume that they are selfish people that want everything for themselves and too selfish to share with a child. They look at them and their money and think that they could have given a child a nice home and raised a good citizen, but instead they were selfish and did not want to give any thing to any one else. There are a lot of people with out children that are like this and they are very open when they talk . They speak out and say that they are not going to share any thing of theirs with some kid, they maybe had to help raise brothers and sisters and it turned them against having a family, or maybe they want to much and don't want to share with a child. But usually it is the loud mouth DINKS that portray that selfish attitude and most people don't like selfish people.

You have answered your own question. If you really feel that people who have children sometimes neglect them for lack of energy and that DINKS are better examples for everyone then your attitude really blows! Maybe people don't look down on DINKS, they look down on you!

I guess some people grew up in an old fashion setting to where people are supposed to get married, have kids, live a middle-class life, and deal with it. I have no problem with DINKS ( i never have heard of them being called that, but I like it) I am jealous of you all sometimes though.

i'm 27 and have not had childrens yet and have not been married yet. you're actually not a loser. i'm engaged to get married yet i'll be 28 while that happens. do not hear to people. Marriage is a extensive deal and one which you ought to not experience compelled to do. Do it later on. Cause other people are just dinks. That is why. Some people see that as selfishness. I see it as two people that can contribute in other ways. I rather have people whom don't want to have children...not. Less that I have to worry about another child being abused because its not wanted. I have four kids and I wouldn't have my world without them. Others just rather prefer to spend their time other ways.

DINKS are alright for the countries like India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, China etc, who are facing population explosion problem. But in the countries where population growth is negative like European countries, these DINKS couple are not doing their duty towards society. Imagine a state where every couple becomes DINK, after 60-70 years, there will be no human race on the earth. These people are selfish and shrieking their responsibility towards society for their own convenience.

You sound alot like me before I had my little girl.

I was selfish, narcisstic, self-absorbed......sure you can live your life anyway you want. Now, I cannot imagine living without her.....she is so very special.

People look at you and that is what they think - you are a selfish kid. They are not envious, at least I would not be, but would think that maybe you are gay, love your money too much or just hate kids.

I agree totally with you. I have 5 children and am very happy with that but if you don't want any then that's your choice. Nobody should have children unless they really want them!
