This sounds crazy but...
Figure out if she likes to be adventurous with her food first (very important!). If she is, research the markets in your area (or a local farmer's market) and take her to it for the day. Try an Asian Market or something out of the ordinary (even Whole Foods, if you have one) that will spark conversation. I'm sure you both will come up with something that you can both make and enjoy.

I'd suggest pasta as I saw on tv in Queer Eye show that women prefer light meals although I know pasta can be heavy on the stomach still the preparation is easy and yet you can make it really presentable without too much work ........ Anyways , she'd appreciate anything you'd cook for her .... Also make sure whatever you decide to cook is not something she is not eating like make sure you don't serve meat if she is vegetarian ........ and etc ....

Spaghetti with no meat in the sauce.
1) Spaghetti is the easiest thing in the world to make. All you have to do is fallow the recipe and boil noodles.
2) It's good for you and not really high in calories. If your girl is the type to worry about calories or her weight then it's better to make something with few calories.
3) It smells amazing. When she walks in the door she'll smell it and be impressed with your cooking before she even eats it.
4) She might not eat meat so it's best not to make meat.

You really should ask the girl what sorts of things she likes to eat. Invite her over for a meal, let her know that you'd like to cook something special for her, and ask what kinds of foods she likes.

How about ask her out first, then worry about the what to cook. I suggest you find a little information about this whole cooking situation, as to what she likes.

Well, for one thing you better check and see if she has any allergies to any foods. Also, she may have some moral or religious objections to some foods (ie vegans, ect).

After you go through that, id say nachos and cheese. Because that's what I want right now.

parmasan chicken over angel hair pasta with pasta sauce poured all over. Make it because it tastes great and it's healthy and it's easy but it looks like you would have taken alot of time on it. oh and vegies on the side.
