OKAY;
here is the deal. I am thinking of taking a red-eye (17 hours) from Bangkok to NYC and instead of getting right on another plane to Minneapolis, where I'll be taking my daughter to get settled for college, we're thinking of spending a day and a night in NYC...or maybe just the day....anyhow, we will be on a limited budget, so here's my questions:
1. What would YOU see/do?
2.What do I need to expect to spend?
3.Any places to stay away from?

The flight, as far as I know, will come in to JFK.
Give me some fun ideas...my daughter has never seen the big apple...and it's been a long time for me.

Thanks..have fun dreaming for me.

Take one of the cruises around Manhattan Island. It's very nice and ALOT of fun. You'll get too see the Statue of Liberty up close, and the entire island of Manhattan. You can also take one of the Circle Bus tours around Manhattan. That's fun too. There is literally so much to do. With such little time I would take a tour and check out Times Square. Have fun.

get to Grand Central station and hop on a Gray Line bus - the tour takes u to all the major sites in Manhattan and u can choose to hop-on-hop-off and the stops (e.g. get off the bus at the Empire State building, go up the observation deck and when u get back down u can just hop on to the next Gray Line bus that stops there).
