No. God's original intention was for man to partake of the Tree of Life and live forever. He never intended for man to know sin, sickness, or death. However, man made a poor choice. But thank God for Jesus Christ, who once again gives us an opportunity to make a good choice, and accept Him.

Adam was told that in the day he did touch the tree, he would die and Eve knew this Gen.3:1-5; [ Rev.12:9 [ Dragon and serpent, Satan the Devil ]; Job 2:1,2 [ Satan with the sons of God Job 38:4-7; Angels called morning stars and sons of God do not die Luke 20:34-36; ANGELS DO SIN Gen.6:2,4; Jude 6, 1Pet.3:18-20; THEY ARE IN TARTARUS PRISON HELL TO JUDGEMENT DAY 2Pet,2:4; 1Cor.6:2,3; Saints are the Judges ].
Adam was age 930 when he died Gen.5:3,5; So 1000 years would have been his day, he disconnected from God as his life source, he passed it on
1Cor.15:22-28,51-53; As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
QUESTION?
If Adam did not touch the tree, like Jesus is, and like Job was, Adam would be exposed to Satan and the fallen angels, and in the day he would touch the tree, he would die. if not day one [ as he did ], then day two, so eternal life has got to mean, all who have life must stay connected to God the source of life and Jesus is that example, right?
If this is true, then maybe we understand how Adam was supposed to be if he did not touch the tree, then Eve did it first, what if Adam did not do it as she ask him to do?
God does not help us figure this one out, because what is done is done and He and Jesus John 17:3; have given us that plan so we know how they are going to solve the problem that does exist [ rather than speculation on some other one that could have been ].

In theory, the test that God made in paradise would have still gone on. Adam would be in a "holding pattern" until he ate of one of those trees. We suppose that he would have been mortal, and, borrowing any accidents or someone killing him on purpose, he would have gone on living.

It is my guess that one day he would have eventually eaten of the Tree of Life, at which point he would have lived forever.

(A more interesting question is what would have happen with Adam and Eve's relationship.)

Adam did not exist. ALL life is organic and therefore subject to decomposition. Adam would have had to be created out of indestructible materials to survive. Genesis was written as ancient Hebrew poetry and should not be taken literally.
Religionists now say that it means spiritual death, not physical death.
