If the mother is beaten then you may as well say that the baby has been too, babies die all the time from being beaten inside the womb. There is loads of research on the effect that emotions have on the fetus & evidence has shown that babies can be born stressed & with ongoing problems relating to it.

The baby can be affected if the mother was beaten. Early pregnancies baby can actually die and midway and later in pregnancy baby can be born premature and it can also affect the babys developement. Many studies have been done about stress and depression and the only thing that i have came across was a low birth weight, but nothing major from the emotions most women at some time in pregnancy go through deep emotions just from being pregnant

If a pregnant woman is physically beaten then yes obviously that could affect the baby. Emotionally down, it's hard to be sure though there is some evidence to suggest that stress in the mother can have an affect on testoserone levels which may in term affect the brain development of male babies.

If the mother is physically assaulted, the baby may suffer very badly, brain damage etc, or the baby may die. On the other hand, the baby may suffer no ill effects. As for emotionally, it is really hard to tell - my father died 10 weeks before my sister had her baby and my niece is a delightful, intelligent, happy, emotionally solid child. If you are in a position where you are being physically or emotionally abused, you should seek help.

Good grief! What kind of sick peice of garbage would harm a pregnant woman physically or emotionally? Whoever it is, my heart goes out to you.

Beating--of course, depending on the severity that could SERIOUSLY impact the baby and the mother.

Emotional issues--well, depression can cause physiological symptoms. There is some data to suggest that depression in the mother can impact the developing baby but it is hard to say for sure with so many mitigating variables.

Usually babies are quite well protected in the womb unless the woman suffers a direct blow to the stomach. Stress in the mother can cause the baby to be affected. If you're in that situation please get out now. There are orginisations which can help, like womens aid. Feeling depressed is also common in pregnancy and you should see your doctor who may be able to help you. Good luck for the future.
