If you were to receive a gift of a bottle of Whisky what would impress you?
I do not like whisky, the gift is for a gentleman who is in a whisky lovers club so I want to impress.

I love scotch. My favorite is Johnnie Walker Blue Label (Approx US$ 150 for 750 mL). Although no age is declared, it is believed to be aged for 50 to 60 years. If you can afford this, believe me, nothing better than this for gift.

Otherwise, go for Johnnie Walker Gold Label. This is a deluxe blend of over 15 single malts that has at its heart the very rare Clynelish malt. (Approx US$60 for 75mL) - Aged 18 years.

Note: Johnnie Walker is a world famous brand of Scotch whisky produced in Kilmarnock, Scotland by Diageo plc.

Unless you are from the USA Whisky is spelt without the e.
You need to buy a Single Malt, they are the best and there are 5 types. Highland, Lowland, Speyside, Islay and Jura.
These are all regions of Scotland where the whiskies are distilled.
In order to enjoy a really good whisky, I recommend spending about £25 pounds on a bottle of Macallan, it has a smooth rounded taste and an excellent finish. For something tasting a little sharper I recommend Tobermory, from the Isle of Mull.

Talisker malt whiskey comes from the Scottish Islands. Best I have ever had when I was first given it about 10 years ago. I would have no other now. Having said that the secret of tasting any fine flavours is to taste many rather than a few. Try to find a whiskey gift set that has a variety to taste and this will add a wider dimension to you present. I bet there is one on the Internet somewhere.
Happy and blessed Easter.

Find out if he likes scotch or irish, there are hundreds of good whiskeys. But to get a good whiskey you need to pay at least £30 to £50 a bottle. The best whiskey in my opinion for the money is macallans followed by jamensons.

Number 1; Irish whiskey is spelt with a "e", Scotch is spelt without

However only one of these is worth drinking, and of course anyone who has any sort of taste will choose Irish whiskey every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

if this is for a present it depends on your budget, i personally would love to receive a bottle of Bushmills 12 yr single malt. this will set you back between £23-25.

if this is slightly too expensive then i would recommend Black Bush, a lovely blend of whiskey. this should cost no more than £18

and finally at the end of the range is Bushmills blended Whiskey, costing roughly £12-15, very nice itself but defiantly not as good as the Black Bush

the reason as to why Irish whiskey is superior to the rest is quite simple, as all the best things in life are:
1 - heritage, simply that the Irish have been doing it better and longer than anyone else, (Bushmills is the worlds oldest licenced distillery and is still working today.)
2 - the barrels that are used to store the whiskey in will it matures, a mixture of port, American Bourbon, and sherry. therefore allowing the blenders to create the smoothest whiskey possible.
3 - the raw materials, spring water for Ireland(some of the freshest, cleanest water), the barley grown in the surrounding area to the distillery.

Any whisky is good whisky.I your buying for a whisky lover then he will probably prefer a single malt rather than blended so go for Glenmorangie or Glenfiddich....

If you want an impressive gift don't buy a tradtional "name b rand." One of my favorites for apperance, color and flavor is Blanton's

It comes in a short round bottle that is corked and has a horse standing on top. Very attractive bottle. It is the offical burbon of the Kentucky Derby and makes a nice conversation piece

Try to find out, - before you BUY, - your whisky-loving friend's FAVOURITE brand! You can't go WRONG, that way! There ARE some VERY expensive brands, out there, - I AGREE, - but, - for the MOST part, - they are, ALL, quite reasonably, priced! However, - remember the old addage:- "IF YOU WANT REAL QUALITY, - IT COMES, AT QUITE A PRICE!" Good luck!

I am CERTAIN that your friend will enjoy whatever you BUY, though, - IF it's bought with LOVE!

You have to be careful, not all whiskey drinkers loke all kinds of whiskey. There's corn whiskey, rye whiskey, bourbon whiskey, sour mash whiskey malt whiskey single malt whiskey, and scotch whiskey. You first must find out what type of whiskey your friend likes, then go to a decent liquor store and ask questions on the products they sell
