Maya is the best, but extreamly tuff for beginneers. So you can try Swift 3D ( http://www.erain.com/ ) . Its very low in features, but easy to use.

autocad, Maya are all good. You may also want to try blender

AutoCAD2007 its a bit pricey tho but u should look into it & download the free trial one

the free version of google scetch-up may not be profesional but it works for me you coul also search www.download.com for one
