Sounds like he's just a generally unstable person. It could be lots of things like emotional frustration, alcohol or other substance abuse or just some sort of travesty in his life that has taken a large effect on him. Either way, he really ought to not be so self-absorbed and analyze the negative effects his erratic behavior has on you and others that care about him. Distance yourself increasingly though it's hard because you probably want to help this person. But sometimes, people just have to "bottom out" and figure things out on their own. But if you feel you have the power to inspire him, try coaxing him and probing the issue out of him. But like I said, if that proves unsuccessful, slowly remove yourself from the situation. Remember to be strong and be exemplary so that he will have someone to follow in case he needs your guidance. But don't be pushy and let him gradually return to form. Good luck and I hope I've helped.

His problem is that he is a Man! ! ! Typically men don't like to share their feelings with us because they seem to think it makes them "soft." . Give him a couple of weeks to figure it out for himself and then you should maybe try to tell him how he makes you feel when he acts this way and see what he says. Make him think it was all his idea to share with you.

He is arrogant and egocentric. When he wants your attention for his needs,he'll be responsive to you. When he has other girls or other interests,he'll ignore you. Not the kind of person to be friendly with, and certainly not the marriage-type. He does not want to share.

He has no problem. He is the way he is.
You have a problem: how to deal with it?
You should find a way or move on.
Good luck!
