URGENT ADVISE NEEDED!! is there a quick way to defrost sour cream?

It has become frozen in my fridge and I need it in about 10 mins!!! Have you ever run hot water over the carton or microwaved it? Does it work??

This happens to me all the time. My husband insists on just shoving stuff in front of it until it's pushed all the way back to the back, then it freezes.

I found that letting it sit on the counter for a few minutes then stirring it vigorously with a spoon helps break up the ice crystals and makes it smooth again. Word of caution though: It won't be the same as it was before. If it's cooked/baked into something, it'll be fine; if you're serving it with tacos or making a dip out of it, it'll be grainy and weird (although it'll taste OK).

BLUE CHEESE SALAD DRESSING 4 oz. Blue cheese 3 tsp. lemon juice 1 tsp. celery salt 1 clove minced garlic 1 tsp. grated onion 1 pt. mayonnaise 1 pt. sour cream Mix first 5 ingredients, leaving some large chunks of blue cheese. Fold sour cream and mayonnaise into mixture. Divide into smaller containers and refrigerate and use as needed.

Place the closed container in a bowl of hot water and change it every few minutes until you can stir the sour cream. Good luck!

i'd defrost it a little bit at a time in the microwave, and stir it alot, dont let it get to hot, then maybe let it finish in a bath of warm water.........
