Register with someone or other. Exactly who depends on which country you live in. In the USA, you have to get the IRS to declare you a recognized charity. A lawyer or accountant will help there. If you plan to solicit funds or hold fund-raisers, your county will probably require things of you.

Well: according to that you must become an "Volunteer
where of course others help out with their Community Projects
