"In my father's house are many mansions"

I think that would mean diffrent paths to god. I don't think one linear path would lead to god. why do christians think that only christianity will bring you to god.

Actually this does not imply that there are many paths to God.

The Father's house refers to heaven, where there are many dwelling places. There is room there for all the redeemed. If it were not so, Christ would have told them; He would not have them build on false hopes. “I go to prepare a place for you” may have two meanings.

Christ went to Calvary to prepare a place for His own. It is through His atoning death that believers are assured a place there. But also the Lord went back to heaven to prepare a place. We do not know very much about this place, but we know that provision is being made for every child of God—a prepared place for a prepared people!

There is only one path to eternal righteousness, and that is through the claiming by the believer the atoning sacrifice of Christ.

Only one of the earth's religions, Christianity, possesses all of the following attributes:

1. Other religions revolve around their founder’s teachings, rules, regulations, and rituals. Christianity, however, revolves around a Living Person, the Risen Lord Jesus Christ.
2. Christianity is unique because it is based upon historical facts and the revelation of God in the Bible.
3. Christianity is the only religion that offers the Assurance and Security of Salvation
4. It is the only religion that teaches that salvation is a free gift, unmerited by anyone, of god’s grace. There is nothing a person can do to merit salvation, since it is received through faith, apart from works.
5. Other religions were started because of man’s attempt to search for the supernatural, search for the truth, appease their innate sense of sin and guilt, and find favor with his god. But Christianity is the account of God’s search for mankind. "For the Son of Man has come to see and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10; John 10:10). His love for us was the reason He has revealed Himself to us through His Son Jesus and by His grace we are saved (Ephesians 2:8-9).
6. It reveals God as the Triune God - God as the Father, God as the Son, and God as the Spirit
7. Christianity is exclusive in its claims. How is Christianity Exclusive?

A. The God of Christianity is claimed to be the only true God (Jeremiah 10:10; Jude 25).

B. The Bible is claimed to be the Word of God and the only true revelation from God (Isaiah 8:20; Revelation 22:18-19; 2 Timothy 3:16).

Some have claimed that the bible is no more accurate that Homer's Iliad. I respectfully disagree and the table shown at the link below clearly demonstrates my argument that the Bible is one of the most accurate sources for the events described in it.

Investigation will also reveal that there exists NO SINGLE SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY that has been shown to prove error, factually or doctrinally, in the Bible. There is lots of speculation and hypotheses, but not a single verifiable fact.

To make this claim alone is quite a feat for ancient texts, but when you add to it the fact that the Bible was written over more than 1,500 years by forty vastly different writers, yet every book in the Bible is consistent in its message. These 66 books talk about history, prophecy, poetry, and theology.

No human beings could have planned such an intricate combination of books over a 1,500-year time span. Bible manuscripts (remember, there were no printing presses until 1455) have survived despite weather, persecution and time. Most ancient writings written on weak materials like papyrus have vanished all together. Yet many copies of the Old Testament scriptures survived. For instance, the Dead Sea Scrolls contain all books of the Old Testament, except Esther, and have been dated to before the time of Christ. Now consider Julius Caesar’s Gallic Wars. Only ten copies written about 1,000 years after the event are in existence. In comparison, there are over 24,000+ New Testament manuscripts, the earliest one dating to within 24 years after Christ.

The Bible also validates its divine authorship through fulfilled prophecies. An astonishing 668 prophecies have been fulfilled and none have ever been proven false (three are unconfirmed).

An honest study of biblical prophecy will compellingly show the divine authorship of the Bible. Further, archeology confirms (or in some cases supports) accounts in the biblical record. No other holy book comes close to the Bible in the amount of evidence supporting its divine authorship.

C. The Biblical Way of Salvation is the only way of salvation. There is no other way (John 3:36). No matter how good, religious or sincere a person may be, unless he or she has faith in Jesus they will not be saved. "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).

D. Jesus Christ claims to be the only way to God, the only way of salvation and the only way to eternal life in heaven (John 3:16-17). Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6).

that is actually the first time i have ever heard anyone say that, its an interesting spin.
but many people will tell you that Broad is the path to hell and narrow is the way.
the mormons teach that the straight and narrow path is the way of the steps leading to baptism.

also consider that if many mansions are proof of many ways to God, then you must consider the fact that Jesus promised believers, and the most faithful, to be rulers of many cities, and you must also NOTe that Jesus did NOT promise to EVERYONE a mansion! but he did promise All things that are expedient. and in the book of revelation there are at least 11 different promises of varying rewards to those that overcome a little or a lot, He even promised the throne of God, as he received it from his own Father but, the promise is only given to those that Overcome ALL things.

Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life. No man commeth to the Father but by me. There are many other things which Jesus said throughout Scripture. "Straight is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to eternal life and few there be that find it."

God says what He means and means what He says. You take the Lord's words out of context in your "interesting quote...".

I think, I don't think, think that--- It doesn't make any difference what anyone "thinks" What matters is what God says. Don't take even a Christians word for it. Check it out for yourself. Start out with a King James Bible. Other translations have been pretty well perverted.

Finally the proof as they say is in the pudding. Seek and ye shall find. It might help if you look for one spelled with an upper case 'G'.

Because Jesus said - "I am THE way, THE truth, and THE Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me."

Jesus is the only way to God. Not Christianity. I don't see that quote as meaning different paths. I think it just means what it says.

Don't pull a verse out of context. Just a couple of verses later Jesus delcared that He was the way to God. Other places He plainly teaches that no one can come to God the Father except through Him.

The bible teaches that there is only one way to God and that is through the Lord Jesus Christ.

A narrow path? Yes!

But a path filled with glory!

god bless

I disagree with your interpretation of the quote.

I think that if Jesus meant that there were several paths to Heaven, he wouldn't have used the idea of mansions inside the kingdom. I think that the quote would have relayed the idea of many roads, paths, or methods that led to his father's house.

I believe that when Jesus spoke of "mansions", he spoke of rewards in Heaven for those who follow God.

No that is saying that there is no limit to how many people heaven can hold.

But we know that the only way to God is through Jesus by this verse below.

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:6

maximum Bible references would be contained in the format "e book financial ruin : verse". contained in the occasion you supply, you will bypass to the e book of Jeremiah, the twenty ninth financial ruin and the eleventh verse. there's a table of content cloth contained in the front of Bibles that can assist you detect the e book. some books in ordinary terms have one financial ruin, so there would be in ordinary terms "e book verse" listed, at the same time with Philemon 2. that must be the 2nd verse of the e book of Philemon (in ordinary terms one financial ruin long). If the reference had reported Jeremiah 29:9-12, they could be relating the e book of Jeremiah, chaper 29 and then verses 9 by using 12.

Here's a clue to you. The Bible wasn't written in English until it was translated. Greek in some ways is like English, yet it can be more precise than English.

Just so you know.
