I am used to using a charcoal grill. It seems no matter how low I turn the grill everything burns.

Going from charcoal to gas takes a little getting used to, since they are different types of heat and have slightly different grilling characteristics.

If your grill has a thermometer in the lid, many grilling recipes for things like steak, pork shops, etc. recommend grilling over a direct-medium fire (350°F to 375°F) with the lid down. Most gas grill manufacturers recommend starting the grill on high for about 7-10 minutes, and then reduce the temperature to medium for grilling.

You may also find the cookout calculator at charcoalbob.com helpful. Enter the details such as the type of grill, heat of the fire, items you are grilling, desired doneness, etc. and it will give you instructions for how to grill steaks, chicken breasts, pork chops and the like. It also has grilling tips.

We made the transition from charcoal to gas a few years ago and it took a little time to get used to the difference. It does take some practice.

Hope this helps.

Turn it to low and don't put your food directly over the heat...scoot it to the outside of the grilling area

Stay and monitor the food while cooking is the easiest or just put down some heavy duty aluminum foil with small holes poked all over. Kinda defeats the purpose of flame broiling though.
