First there has to be concrete evidence that it is a threat.
Global Warming/Climate Change is not as big a problem as some would have you to believe. A recent article in the New York Times has even asked Al Gore to stop all the hype:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/13/science/13gore.html?_r=1&oref=slogin That same article talks about Al Gore's claim that the oceans could rise 20 feet is exaggerated by 18.08 FEET! The latest UN study on the subject says the seas could rise a MAXIMUM of 23 inches. Al was only 18.08 FEET off. That, my freind IS hype...

If you look up any global temperature chart on the net, you'll find the earth's temperature has only increased by about 6/10 of one degree (C) - that's 1.1 degree (F), in the last 125 years. So yes, the globe is warming up, but it's not overheating like some would have you to believe. http://data.giss.nasa.gov:80/gistemp/2005/2005cal_fig1.gif

The latest research shows that the methane from cows and pigs is a major factor in the increase of "heat trapping gas". It's actually 23 times more potent as a heat trapping gas than is carbon dioxide. http://www.greenpeace.org/international/campaigns/climate-change/science/other_gases According to the newest UN report on Global Warming, "Livestock are responsible for 18 per cent of the greenhouse gases that cause global warming, more than cars, planes and all other forms of transport put together." http://news.independent.co.uk:80/environment/article2062484.ece

So if Al Gore and all the alarmists really want to do something about climate change, they MUST become vegetarians and shut down cow and pig farms. I mean seriously, if they truly believe that global warming is as disastrous as they are preaching then they need to stop eating meat, period! I doubt that will happen. If not, then they are the hypocrites that some of us already suspect they are.

Also Al Gore preaches to you to conserve, but he does not practice it himself. He uses 20 times more energy in his Nashville mansion than the national average. http://www.tennesseepolicy.org/main/article.php?article_id=367
One thing he has not learned is that you MUST practice what you preach... at some point you will get caught as he has.

Do nothing. Global Warming is a joke. Back in 1974 the scientists were very concerned about "Global Cooling."

These things are cyclical. There is nothing to worry about. Besides, why should be believe Al Gore, he's such a hypocrite!

Global warming is a natural phenomenon and we can not stop it but we have increased the rate of temperature rise with our non sustainable living standards.

If we want to decrease the rate of global warming we have to follow the principals of sustainable living which includes decreasing green house gas emisions, decrease use of fossile fuel, stop wasting, stop cutting forests and conserve natural resources.

Small doings from all of us can help in the cause.

PLANT A TREE.
SAVE FORESTS.
USE LEAST POSSIBLE FOSSILE FUEL.
DO NOT WASTE - REUSE WHEREEVER POSSIBLE.
LIVE WITH PRINCIPALS OF SUSTAINABLE LIVING.

OUR INDIAN CULTURE DEPENDS ON THE PRINCIPALS OF SUSTAINABLE LIVING AND IF WE START LIVING WITH THE CORRECT PRINCIPALS WE WILL BE ABLE TO DO A LOT.

It's so easy that you will laugh at yourself for not thinking of the only real thing we can do about it. And it goes like this::::>
Quit thinking about it and, just like magic, you will have a big weight lifted from your shoulders and feel instant and joyous relief from needless worry and anxiety!!
Nobody, or no amount of money, can stop, alter, change, or 'fix' nature. Nature will always do the only thing nature does with any regularity, which is to change constantly. So, don't sweat it, and in no time, everything is back in proper perspective and life goes on as it should. Which is, after all, all we can do to get along with nature. When nature gets cold, don't run around in shorts. When nature gets warm, don't dress like an Eskimo.
Simple, huh?

That Global warming is due to Greenhouse gases and their effects cannot be considered the only phenomena responsible for such impacts. Let us closely look at the burning phenomena of Fuels - Petroleum, Wood, etc. In the case of Petroleum products, it should be noted that WHEN ONE KG OF PETROL/ DIESEL BURN IN AN AUTOMOBILE ENGINE, THE HEAT GENERATED IS ABOUT THE EQUIVALENT OF 11 KWH. However, the actual output utilized is only about 3.2 KWH, maximum. This means not less than 7 KWH heat units are spewed into the atmosphere when one kg of petroleum burns. Thus, in a city like Bangalore, for example, the estimated annual consumption of petroleum fuels consumed by automobiles alone is about 80 million liters. The HEAT SPEWED OUT BY SUCH VOLUMES OF FUEL BURNING WOULD AVERAGELY HEAT 2, 200 TONS OF WATER EVERY DAY TO REACH BOILING POINT FROM ROOM TEMPERATURE level...ALL THROUGHOUT 365 DAYS!!!

What does this mean to the environment? It is to be inferred that Bangalore City is responsible for spewing into the atmosphere a heat value equivalent to that needed to heat 2200 tons of water to boiling point, every day!. Add to this all the other heat LOSSES in every such burning/ heat process; the end result would be mind-boggling.

The conclusion should be: THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT THE WORLD's SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS SHOULD ATTEMPT NOW TO REDUCE GLOBAL WARMING IS TO EITHER REDUCE THIS HUGE HEAT SPEW FROM BURNING PROCESSES OR CONVERT THESE "LOSSES" INTO OTHER USEFUL FORM OF ENERGY TO AUGMENT OUR DAILY NEEDS. For example, in the case of Bangalore, the available HEAT SPEW from petroleum burning is of the order of NOT LESS THAN 1, 600, 000 KWH per day. even IF ONLY 50% OF THESE COULD BE TAPPED, ENERGY TO THE TUNE OF 800, 000 KWHe COULD BE SAVED EVERY DAY, REDUCING THAT MUCH ADDITIONAL DRAWALS THAT OCCUR NOW.

Such improvements in EFFICIENCY AND PRODUCTIVITY WOULD NOT ONLY HELP IN THE IMMEDIATE ENERGY NEEDS BUT IN THE LONG RUN THIS WOULD GO A LONG WAY TO OBLITERATE THE EFFECTS OF GLOBAL WARMING

transform the global mentality in to that of a garden culture like Babylon ,
if the whole world complied we would end up with a paradise type of planet with plenty of food and water ,

as well as the folowing points
limiting populations is one of the most importent

we may have to bring back human sacrifice to arcieve that ,and to get rid of the stick in the mud dissidents who dont want to play along

and dont be outraged for a nation that is planning to wage war on the world for control.and whose diplomats stated in 1998 at a private meeting in Stockholm, that the agenda demanded the world population to go down by 60%.

if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to reverse the destructive processes

reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.

the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.

the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia

Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.

the protection of existing forrests.

stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.

education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.

education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´populaion

Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.

more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks

,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour

alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine

recicling wastes,limit water use

Conserve energy. Doesn't mean not doing things, means doing them more efficiently. Compact fluorescent light bulbs, programmable thermostats, more economical cars/trucks, etc.

Develop alternative energy sources. Nuclear, solar, wind, biofuels.

Develop ways to capture (sequester) carbon dioxide.
