It seems to me that no matter whether the abducted sailors and marines were in Iraqui or Iranian territory they are not wanted in either place by the countires who actually own the water so is anyone surprised that when the British use intimidation to stop and search shipping they have no right to search, once in a while some people will get sick and tired of turning the other cheek and decide to bully them back.

They should do more searches like this at home with the war on drugs. Drugs destroy and kill more people than terrorist attacks ever have. Put more money where is needed to protect your people.

His question, Dina, is not about sympathy. It is a legitimate question about right and wrong. Maybe you lack sympathy about all the thousands innocent Iraqis that have been killed and wounded in US bombing that the US considers "collateral damage". What sick puppy thought up this term?

The Royal Navy and the United States Navy have the right to stop and search any ship anywhere on the high seas. There are serious problems at sea which we do not encounter on land, such as the smuggling of arms and stolen goods etc. There is also the issue of pirates in the South China Sea who stop and board ocean liners and rob passengers etc. When the time is right, both the US and the Brits will probably turn their Naval attention to this and similar problems. The Royal Navy have stopped hundreds of ships off the coast of South America and seized ship loads of drugs thus stopping them getting to Europe and the USN is doing much the same thing. It's a combined effort. As for Iran, it is a rogue state it is most likely to be the supplier of enriched uranium which will find it's way into the hands of terrorists. We've got to stop that happening no matter what. Down with Iran.

Nice try. I would say by the Iraqi government. What would you have us do? Bring in IED'S and other assorted weapons for the insurgents? When you are protecting a country for the government in place, you must also protect the sea lanes of that country.

Why is always the British and the Americans causing the problems? Have you considered, we might be doing what is right?

do you want guns being freely imported into the middle east, and other kinds of warfare getting thru..
thats one of the reasons the ships go on and search, to save the likes of US!
They dont use intimidation!!! they are there to police the waters in that area, and it is a mutual agreement!
WAKE UP!!
Im sure they would rather be somewhere else, if they had a choice, but its a job thats been being done for many many years by the RN?RM!

The GPS indicates that they were not in Iranian water, so what right did the Iranians have to kidnap them?

But that is not your issue, you are just trying to promote your Islamic agenda.

Trying to get sympathy from the west already?

By the right of International Maritime Law. For the same reasons, the U.S. Coastguard stop and search.

presumably you ask your question from the comfort of a land where you are able to freely state your opinion. Be thankful for that and don't try to undermine those who risk their lives to keep us safe
