I imagine they are greeting each other, anyone know what they are doing?

My kitties have only done this one time that I'm aware of - I call it 'nose' kissing (they often smell each others butt).

Once the older one got so scared by something outside (I have yet to work out what - but it was so bad I couldn't even get near her for a couple of hours because she'd hiss at me) but the younger one (they're by no means best of friends), seemed to sense the older one was scared and I have to admit I was really touched by what I witnessed.

After the scare, the older one was in the lounge room and I'd locked the younger one in the bedroom (where I'd kept her until the older one had managed to calm down a bit). Anyway, I eventually let her out once I thought the older one had calmed down enough. The younger one (my 'problem' child) slowly walked up to the older one and nose kissed her (a very rare occasion) and walked about her as if to say 'I'm sorry you got so scared". Normally, the younger one is the dominant one and would pounce on the older one. I don't know for sure but I get the feeling that the nose kiss signified that that the younger one was feeling empathy with the older one and just wished her well and was so sorry she was so scared.

Since then, things have gotten back to normal and the young one is intent on dominating the older one and so pounces on her all the time. The older one occasionally swipes back (and when she does, the results are spectacular - the younger one leaves her alone for a while) but peace reigns :)

BTW, both of mine often 'nose' kiss me when they want to tell me they love me.

I know its weird but sometimes when Im laying down or even if my kitty just gets up on my shoulder when Im sitting on the couch.. she'll smell my eyeball. Like for a good 10 seconds. I dont know what shes smelling but she wakes me up a lot doing that lol
Its just a way of greeting eachother or smelling to see what the other cat ate for breakfast ;)

They are, indeed, greeting each other. And, they might be smelling what the other ate, too. I had a cat and every time I came in the door she had to smell my breath to see what I ate. Cats are funny people!

That's a greeting for familiar cats. They're not kissing, just touching noses to prove who they are.

Cats have scent glands on their faces, they rub noses and faces with each other to trade scents and identify each other as part of the family. They then will smell each other...touch noses, to verify that they smell of each other. It's the same thing they are doing when they rub your nose with theirs. It makes everyone part of the family.

They're just saying..."Wut up Dawg"...I mean cat. They also rub on things to leave their scent from the glands in the facial area.
