My sound doesn't work and i was asked to change it?!?

Assuming you have a desktop computer, ground yourself by touching something metal, then open the case of your computer, look for the card that has the holes for the sounds cables, mic, etc. then unscrew the screws holding it in, and gently but firmly pull it out.

Carefully handling the new sound card by the edges only, insert it firmly into the spot the old one was at, and replace the screws. Then replace the case, and plug everything back in.

If you are using WinXP it should automatically detect the new sound card and install the drivers for it. If you have a CD that came with it with drivers on it, use those.

If the problem was your sound card, that should take care of.

If upon opening your computer up you find that the sound card is part of the motherboard, and not separate, go ahead and install the new one as above, and then you will have to go into the device information after restarting your computer and disabling the integrated sound card.
