A professional groomer will not only shampoo your dog, but will check for any irregularities she sees in his coat or body that you might not have noticed. (That happened with my dog and I later discussed it with his vet--turned out not to be a problem.) Also, a groomer will trim his nails and foot pads which is something you might not want to do, but is best for the health and well-being of your dog.

I wouldn't consider it a waste of money--but part of the total investment for the long life and happiness of my dog. I guess it's a personal choice . . .

Best wishes.

CKCS's need professional grooming. It might be a bit expensive but they need it. Going every 3 months is ridiculous unless you plan to show him. He only needs to go 2, maybe 3 times per year. If the groomer has told you to come back in 3 months, find another groomer.

I don't think that you are wasting your money. Dogs need to know that it is ok to be in a strange situation and that other people are going to treat the puppy with kindness and friendliness.
My own dogs ( I have 2 full grown German Shepherds) go to the groomer about 2 times a year. I have a bad back sometimes and really need them to be groomed. They don't seem to mind the experience and seem to like the groomer.
Your puppy needs to experience other people and places and learn (just like a young child) that there are pleasant experiences outside of the home and with other people.
Please make sure that you socialize yout puppy so that it is well rounded and knows the world other than just your home or backyard.

Only dogs with really long hair need to be groomed. And usually combing it yourself is enough. Going every 3 months is rediculous unless it going to be a show dog. Once a year at the most I'd say.

I think you should get him used to it because King Charles need a lot of grooming to stay regal. Unless you want to do it all yourself find a good groomer.

he is a cavalier king charles spaniel. He doesnt professional grooming - you are wasting your money.

You can do it at home... get him used to being brushed, and perhaps a touch up around the ears and toes with scissors to keep things neat and clean.

thats it.

Save your money and go to the pet store and buy nail clippers and a brush. Oh and also buy a convertible and drive him through the car wash with the top down. They love that. Or maybe just wash him with the garden hose or bath tub. Yeah...that might be better.
